In many ways, 2017 sucked for a lot of people for many reasons.
There was a political upset when Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma caused millions of dollars worth of damage and left thousands of people homeless. The Las Vegas Strip shooting became the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. The Manchester bombing claimed 23 innocent lives and left more than 500 people injured. The list goes on and on.
However, there were quite a few wonderful things that happened in 2017 as well, proving that there is still compassion and humanity left in the world.
1. Love is love...Australia legalized same-sex marriage.
2. Women were given a voice.
3. The #MeToo campaign put the seriousness of sexual assault on full display when dozens of men in Hollywood and beyond were accused of sexual assault and sexual harassment.
4. The Houston Astros won their first World Series.
5. JJ Watt's fundraiser raised more than $37 million for Houston, Texas.
6. Larry Nassar was brought to justice.
7. More than $13 million was raised for the Manchester bombing victims.
8. A foster child and his dog best friend became a forever family.
Get the tissue box ready when you watch this video, it's absolutely adorable.
9. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got engaged.
10. Taylor Swift released her sixth studio album, "Reputation."
11. Eminem released his first album in four years.
12. Doug Jones was elected to the U.S. Senate in Alabama, becoming the first Democrat to win since 1992.
13. We survived another year.
Cheers to you, 2017. May 2018 be less depressing and bring joy to everyone who deserves it.
