Winter break: a month for students to catch up with high school friends, relax, and not have to worry about school. After a few days home, however, you begin to realize that with break comes these 13 problematic situations:
1. Although seeing old friends is great, you are now separated from all of your friends at college.
2. Because school is no longer in session, you cannot use homework as an excuse to get out of chores.
3. As much as you try not to, you can't help but think about next semester's expenses, particularly textbooks and tuition.
4. This results in each day of winter break turning into a work marathon.
5. Every bit of accomplishment you feel at the end of break from finally having a decent chunk of money in your bank account is destroyed in the 30 seconds it takes to pay your tuition bill online.
6. Let me repeat that: YOU LOSE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN 30 SECONDS.
7. After being independent for 4 months, you are now back under your parents' rules.
8. This means you have to let them know where you are going every second of the day.
9. Not having to pay for your own food sounds good until you are stuck with what's at the house.
10. You are constantly plagued with questions about school and your future plans.
11. You are expected to save money during the holiday season.
12. You are bound to run into people that you were hoping to never see again.
13. You may get unpleasant news about your final grades as a Christmas present from your professors.
While there is also a chance you did well on your exams and not all of break is that bad, these scenarios have a way of making the holidays a little less jolly.
