The 13 Stages of Autumn

We all go through these phases of our favorite season starting.

It’s about that time of year again! Leaves are changing, temperatures are shifting, and we’re entering into one of the most loved seasons. During this transition, we recognize some of the stages we all encounter when autumn begins.

1. Wishing for Fall as Summer ends

Summer is a great, fun time, but all good things must come to an end. We're all waiting for sweater weather and it's taking way too long to get here.

2. Pumpkins everywhere once the first chill hits

Pumpkin spice, pumpkin pie, pumpkin decorations. Bring it on, I'm ready for all the pumpkins.

3. Finally being able to wear sweaters and boots

Fall fashion is arguably the best fashion. You can wear all the cute cardigans you want without feeling like a pig in a sauna

4. Planning out your Halloween costumes

Truthfully, I start doing this about a year in advance, but I probably just love Halloween way too much.

5. The strong urge to cuddle with anything and everything

Once the cold weather sets in you can finally snuggle with your friends/significant other/fuzzy blankets without feeling suffocated by heat and it's honestly the greatest thing.

9. Planning all the cute autumn activities you're about to take part in

Photo shoots, hayrides, corn mazes, football games. Fall is the best time for all those really basic, but also fun, things to do.

10. Wearing dark lipstick

If you're anything like me, you love breaking out the dark colored lips in the fall. It's all fun and games, though, until the wind picks up and it gets in your hair and is smudged all over your face.

11. Bundling up in coats and scarves

Fall coats are so cute, and really contribute to the excitment of fall fashion. They're the best... at least until you have to really bundle up for the constantly dropping temperatures and feel like a marshmallow.

12. Everyone getting sick

You try so hard to avoid it. Wash your hands, don't share drinks, take vitamin C, but you know it'll eventually catch up with you too.

13. Realizing fall is just the start of a long, dreary winter.

You're walking through the blistering wind one day. Your nose is running, your teeth are chattering, and all you can think is "how much longer until summer?" It makes you wonder why you even desired fall so much to begin with.

It's clear to see the excitement of autumn drops along with the temperature. There's upsides and downsides to the fall transition, but, overall, it's a great season that the majority of us enjoy!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
