[Don't worry, no spoilers in this article.] As soon as I watched the first episode of Netflix’s newest hit show, 13 Reasons Why, I knew I would love the soundtrack just as much as the show. I was right and after finishing the series in four days (whoops), I made an entire playlist of songs from the show. The playlist contained over 30 songs, so I took the liberty of condensing the list down to what I believe are the most important 13.

1. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" - Joy Division

Lyrics to make you feel something: And we’re changing our ways, taking different roads. Then love, love will tear us apart again.

2. "Young & Unafraid" - The Moth and the Flame

Lyrics to make you feel something: We’re the patient performer, the kid in the corner. We were just tuning you out, we were young and unafraid.

3. "Mess is Mine" - Vance Joy

Lyrics to make you feel something: Do you like walking in the rain? When you think of love do you think of pain?

4. "Reunion" - M83

Lyrics to make you feel something: A never-ending dance, a blooming and a trance. You make me feel my soul, there’s no more loneliness.

5. "Cowards Starve" - Protomartyr

Lyrics to make you feel something: Social pressures exist, and if you think about them all of the time you’re gonna find that your head’s been kicked in.

6. "Into the Black" - Chromatics

Lyrics to make you feel something: Once you’re gone you can never come back when you’re out of the blue, into the black.

7. "Fascination Street" - The Cure

Lyrics to make you feel something: But if you open your mouth, then I can’t be responsible for quite what goes in or to care what comes out.

9. "A 1000 Times" - Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam

Lyrics to make you feel something: I found your house, I didn’t even try. They’d closed the shutters, they’d pulled the blinds. My eyes were red, the streets were bright. Those ancient years were black and white.

9. "The Night We Met" - Lord Huron

Lyrics to make you feel something: When the night was full of terrors and your eyes were filled with tears, when you had not touched me yet. Oh, take me back to the night we met.

10. "Thirteen" - Elliott Smith

Lyrics to make you feel something: Won’t you tell me what you’re thinking of? Would you be an outlaw for my love? If it’s so then let me know, if it’s no then I can go.

11. "In a Black Out" - Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam

Lyrics to make you feel something: Midnight where we used to dance underneath the ugly halogen lamps. Oh, it all went away so fast in a black out.

12. "Vienna" - Ultravox

Lyrics to make you feel something: A voice reaching out in a piercing cry; it stays with you until the feeling has gone.

13. "Kill Em With Kindness" - Selena Gomez

Lyrics to make you feel something: Your lies are bullets, your mouth’s a gun and no war and anger was ever won.

And if you're feeling extra and want to relive the 13 reasons, here's a Spotify playlist of 13 Songs You Missed From 13 Reasons Why.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Sister | Brother Style - Word Press

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
