We all have times when we have nothing left on our card. You had to pay for car insurance and then you just had to buy video games. Maybe your balance drops into the single digits, or maybe you just don't like spending money. Here are a few trade secrets.
1. I'm Saving Up
Parents love to hear you are striving towards something, because they want to see you achieve your goals. Make it appear you are waiting for something big, and they'll want to help.
2. Your Job's The Problem
When your money is tight because your checks are low, this is a good time to get the pity checks rolling. Your parents don't want you to suffer, despite what you may feel.
3. Gifts
Tell your parents you need to make something really nice for a friend. Depending on how creative your idea is, they might just be willing to help you.
4. Mercy Rules
Perhaps someone has recently stolen money from you or they were supposed to pay you back. This makes parents feel it's time to help you out.
5. Do All The Chores
It's simple. Something needs doing and mom looks exhausted coming home from work? Time to get 'er done.
6. Prove How Bad You Want It
Not only should you adopt a Cinderella guise, but your actions should prove that you are determined to get the item however possible. Just to prove you feel you need it.
7. Good Moods
The right good mood is important too. If they're happy about a new paycheck, that's the time to spring.
8. Be Mature
Yelling or misbehaving are critical mistakes. They don't want to listen to you in the first place when you ask for money, so make it as painless as possible. Then they'll listen.
9. What Makes It Great?
Pitch it like you are a hired salesperson. Everything you say must highlight the positives, enhance them, or make the bad things seem remote issues.
10. Barter
Offer something in return, such as, if they pay your phone bill, then you promise to babysit your siblings on Saturday nights when you could be out on a date.
11. Make It A Gift
Once I ran out of cash and ran into the best poster I'd ever seen. "Hey mom, can you get this for me for my birthday?" Done.
12. Ask The Grandparents
Sometimes, they just won't do it. However, grandparents love to spend money on you, why not fulfill their desire? Everybody wins.
Always remember that you should adopt a very humble attitude whenever you are asking someone for anything, especially money. Be kind to your parents, and don't disrespect them with a very foolish request. Make them the nice guy, and that's what they will want to be. Good luck!
