Your best friend is someone who has more in common with you than anyone else. It's the person you choose to share (all of) your time with. He or she probably knows more about you than all of your other friends and maybe even your family. Because of all of these things, your best friend gets certain privileges that others might not get. Here are 12 things that are only OK when your best friend does them:
1. They'll tell you just how terrible that outfit is and make it clear that you need to take it off right now.
It's only mean when someone else does it.
2. You let them take care of any personal grooming issues that they see.
I mean, what even is personal space when it comes to best friends?
3. They can take your phone and do as they please.
Not only did you probably want their advice on what to text next, but you trust them not to say anything too stupid. (After all, you know where they live.)
4. You let them use the aux cord.
This is a big responsibility, but they know all your jams.
5. They can just walk into your house whether you're there or not.
If they weren't your best friend, it would just be considered breaking and entering.
6. Your pantry is their pantry.
Again, this would be stealing on any other occasion, but with friendship comes shared food.
7. They can call you whatever they want to.
Insulting nicknames come hand and hand with friendship—some profane, some uncomfortable, all OK with your best friend.
8. Late night/early morning texts and phone calls are all right.
You know it's true friendship when you sacrifice your sleep in order to catch up.
9. They're allowed to embarrass you in public.
Odds are, all of these embarrassments will just be laughed off and turned into inside jokes, anyway.
10. You wear matching outfits and it's okay.
Some take offense to people showing up in the same shirt. Some are embarrassed. Some think it's immature. But really, it's just a sign of true friendship.
11. They can be a terrible influence because they know you were going to do it, anyway.
When was the last time you took their advice, anyway? They may as well give you that extra push to do that stupid thing you were thinking of doing in the first place.
12. They're allowed to be a little bit creepy and obsessed because you're best friends and you love each other.
When you're best friends, you're allowed to know anything and everything about each other. It's OK to be obsessed because obviously they're the best person in the entire world, and you want everyone to know that.
