12 Things I'm Thankful for this Holiday Season

With the Christmas season quickly approaching, we can lose sight of what's truly important in life. Here are a few small things I get to be thankful for.

1. My sweet little nephews.

2. My crazy dog and goofy boyfriend.

3. My best friends who keep me sane.

4. My family in MS, LA, FL.

5. The delicious Thanksgiving food my mother prepared for us.

6. A job that has blessed me with work family.

7. Graduating college DEBT FREE.

8. A car that is paid for.

9. A house to live in, shoes to wear, food to eat.

10. Disney Plus.

11. A Lord and Savior that died on the cross for me.

12. The things life throws at me to keep things interesting; trials and tribulations, losing friends, paying for everything on my own, getting a bad grade, stress, anxiety, adulting.....

I'm thankful for it all.

A Tribute To The Lonely Hispanic

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, I’d like to share a few thoughts about being Hispanic in a country where it’s hard to be Hispanic.

Veronika Maldonado

Just a little background information; my dad was born in Mexico, came to the U.S. as a newborn and became a citizen when he was 25 years old. My mom was born and raised in the U.S. as were my grandparents and great grandparents, but my great-great grandparents did migrate here from Mexico. I am proud to classify myself as Hispanic but there are times when I feel like I’m living a double life and I don’t fit into either one.
