I love writing for the Odyssey; however, I am also busy with other things. I have class, work, homework, tests, social and familial obligations, and so much more. When the due dates for the articles roll around, sometimes the ideas just come to me... and sometimes they don't. Here are the 12 stages of trying to write an article when the ideas just aren't flowing.
1. Sitting down for the first time to write your article (expecting greatness).
2. Having the perfect idea in mind for an excellent article.
3. Starting to write the idea out and realizing it's actually horrible.
4. Deleting the entire thing.
5. Desperately trying to think of something else.
6. Getting frustrated that you can't come up with anything.
7. Crying because it's due tonight.
8. Taking a short coffee break to try to get your brain moving.
9. Staring blankly at the computer screen for over an hour.
10. A random idea magically popping into your head.
11. Typing the article before you lose your train of thought.
12. The feelings of relief and satisfaction upon clicking submit.
