12 Uncanny Signs You Were Born And Raised In Fairfield County

There's nothing quite like the good old 203.

Oh, the good old 203.

I've lived in Connecticut for my whole life; born and raised in Fairfield County to be exact. It's my absolute favorite place on the whole planet because there is no place like home and I grew up right in the best part of New England.

There's so much to be grateful for in a small state like Connecticut. You get a taste at city life intertwined with water views and ocean vibes alongside of the green scenery everywhere you go.

If you grew up in Fairfield County, you understand how home molded you into the person that you are today.

1. You love to shop in Westport, Greenwich Ave. or New Canaan.

Brandy Melville, Vineyard Vines, Tory Burch, oh my! You spend a pretty penny every time you go shopping at one of these destinations.

2. You or a friend probably attended a private high school of academic excellence.

Circle of Mercy for life, baby. You for sure had some sort of brother school or rival school. You wore some sort of ugly uniform that you came to know and love more than anything.

3. You take the Merritt Parkway or I-95 to go anywhere.

In reality, though, you try to avoid 95 at all costs, and opt for the scenic beauty that the Merritt offers.

4. You have something Vineyard Vines in your closet and you own two or three pairs of Sperrys.

Don't forget the basic but necessary L.L Bean Boots that every person owns.

5. You go to Jones Family Farms every year.

Apple picking, strawberry picking, blueberry picking. There's a lot to do here.

6. You have attended a concert or tailgate at Xfinity Center.

Rascal Flatts, Chance the Rapper, Sam Hunt or some sort of country concert. Come on, you must have gone to at at least one of these.

7. There are at least three people in your family who went to UConn.

You have also cheered them on while watching the basketball games with your whole family every year.

8. The biggest debate that you have with people is whether they are a Red Sox or Yankee Fan.

The whole state is divided in two. Your family is truly dedicated to one team and one team only.

9. You and your friends go into the city every time you are together.

No, we don't call it New York; it's just "the city." Being only a train ride away from New York is a huge perk and it's a place that you love to visit to have an adventure sometimes.

10. Everyone drives either a Jeep or some high-end luxury vehicle.

It's just a fact of life.

11. You have experienced Stew Leonard's. It's not a run-of-the-mill grocery store; it's an experience.

It's not just some guy's name either. It's home to soft serve ice cream, singing fruits and veggies, and a petting farm. Basically, it's the best grocery store ever.

12. Eating out can be hard because there are too many good options.

The 203 is home to some of the best restaurants that I've ever gone to in my life. There are too many to count. You have definitely eaten a meal or two at Bar Taco and have taken an Insta pic on the deck. You also know that the best pizza is in New Haven at Frank Pepe's.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
