Ah, Macomb. The residential section of M-59. The hometown and neighboring town of gigantic high schools such as Dakota, LCN, all of those Utica schools, Chipp, and many more. This town has the least amount of fast food restaurants due to a law passed several years ago. It also breeds frozen yogurt establishments.
No matter the season, there were always things to do. If not, there was always Partridge Creek Mall (I'm sorry, "The Mall at Partridge Creek"). Living in the town definitely created some local quirks.
In reality, you had to visit the next town over to find something to do.
1. Want to visit an overcrowded nature path or beach? Stoney Creek.
BRING ON THE VICIOUS SEAGULLS
2. Seeing people you graduated with 2 years ago at Pcreek on the weekends.
Oh hi, haven't seen you in years, let me just duck into the movie theater, oh wait my whole high school is in there too.
3. Erma's Custard is PRIME.
No shame in the 2-3 trips per week made there during the summer nights.
4. Checking the 15 dealerships on WB M-59 for a new car.
BUFF. WHELAN. CHEV-RO-LAAAAYYY!
5. Hall Road in general.
Need I say more
6. Suburbia wasn't all that bad.
Subdivision after subdivision actually meant you always had neighbors to grow up with and hang out with.
7. The Clinton-Macomb Public Library is still, to this day, a castle.
A puppet show area too??
8. When Waldenburg Park floods and shuts down 21 between Heydenreich and Romeo
9. Walking to 7-11 for some Slurpees and to visit favorite neighborhood cashier, Paulie.
10. High school sport rivalries were a big deal.
Dakota vs. Chippewa? Dakota vs. Ike? Dakota vs. De La Salle? Better mark your calendars. (Dakota vs. anyone really)
11. The great Hayes shutdown of 2015 is still fresh in our minds.
People who don't even know Hayes road knew about this horrible shutdown.
12. A field trip to CJ Barrymore's grades 4th-8th was traditional.
Go Karts and arcade games and putt putt golf, oh my!
