So, whether or not you're happy with the outcome of the recent presidential election, you're probably at least glad it's over. I think we were all done with the campaigning and the articles and the Facebook ranting and the nonsense that took place over the last year and a half.

But somehow, no matter how tired we all are of talking about it, it always manages to worm its way into holiday conversations around the dinner table. Whether it's your crazy uncle who keeps bringing it up and swearing it was all a conspiracy, your tech-savvy cousin who mistakes Onion articles for truth and won't stop talking about them, or your sister's boyfriend who just loves to argue, it always comes up, doesn't it? Well, I started thinking about it over Thanksgiving break, and I've come up with twelve things you can talk about this Christmas instead of the election.

1. "Stranger Things"

This show is amazing! It combines cool kids, crazy superpowers, and Winona Ryder. What's not to love?

2. Play "Would you rather?" or "If you could..."

Would you rather have wings or a tail? If you could shrink one animal down to fit in your pocket, what would it be? Would you rather be a famous author or a famous director? If you could name a newly discovered country, what would you name it?

3. Have your whole family impersonate their favorite animal

See if you can figure out what to do for a giraffe, because I can't.

4. Try to orchestrate a mannequin challenge

We did one over Thanksgiving and it was actually pretty fun. Even the grandparents participated! It might not be as huge as this one, but I'm sure it'll be great (assuming this challenge is still relevant by Christmas)

5. Discuss where in the world you want to travel and why

You can also talk about your favorite places you've already been to.

6. New Year's resolutions

Is anyone planning on having one? How have they gone over the past year?

7. The best Christmas presents you've ever gotten

Hopefully everyone can think of one or two really memorable ones.

8. The second coming of Christ

Just kidding. Don't do that.

9. Pumpkin pie in general

It's just really really really good. I could talk about it for ages.

10. The weather

It's always a nice cop-out.

11. The new "Gilmore Girls" revival

(See GIF under item 8)

I've never watched it, but my roommate says it's pretty great!

12. Your favorite books, movies, and TV shows

This might give you ideas for future presents for people.

These are all relatively safe things to discuss around the dinner table and the Christmas tree, and they are also good for bringing the family closer together. Even your most obstinate relatives should be interested in at least one of these topics.

Happy Christmas and good luck!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
