12 Reasons Why We're In Love With HGTV's Fixer Upper
HGTV

It’s no secret to admit that HGTV’s "Fixer Upper" has won over our hearts. The power couple Chip and Joanna Gaines are wonderful individuals; clever, talented and has a breath of fresh air on their design, renovation show located in Waco, Texas. Here’s reasons why we’re in love with "Fixer Upper."

1. One word: shiplap

The two are BIG fans of this; you’ll hear this word at least 20 times while watching the show. A renovation isn’t complete without it. Rough sawn pine paneling found in most barns and historic farms, they’ve turned this unique aesthetic into their signature, design look. Where can we get some shiplap?

2. Their kids

Our other favorite characters on the show. They’re absolutely adorable and a bundle of joy -- please let us babysit them, please!

3. Joanna's wardrobe

She doesn’t only have good taste in design, her personal style is always on point. With a mix of urban, modern and bohemian, it fits well with her comfortable laid back lifestyle.

4. The animals

Oh, look a goat!

Oh, look another puppy!

Oh look a cow is birthing a new calf.

Looks like they’ll be late to showing their next client some homes, again.

5. Demolition day

What day is it?! It could arguably be our favorite day of the week.

6. Some more words: French doors, farmhouse sink, reclaimed wood, subway tile.

You get the picture. All the pieces to the Fixer Upper puzzle. Thank you for introducing these to us, Joanna. How else would we sound classy and sophisticated when discussing home interiors?

7. That house poster

How much do those things cost? And wouldn’t blindfolds just be easier?

8. Waco (Go Baylor Bears!)

Oooh, the home buyers are Baylor grads? Another BIG surprise!

9. Chip ('s sense of humor, belly, sweat...)

He’s a mess, but we love him anyways. Even if he no longer has his special tooth.

10. The price of homes in Texas

These are less than my student loans. When can we move here?

11. The Silos!

Magnolia Market is a store we’ve always dreamed of and their new headquarters are now even better than before. It truly marks all their success and hard work they’ve done, and right in the heart of Waco.

12. Chip and Joanna are GOALS

Despite most reality shows, you can tell the two of them are genuinely happy. A simple couple with big dreams, they were able to make everything become a reality. In life with their lives and each other, thanks Chip and Joanna for giving us a real life fairytale.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
