I'm not going to lie, I was never a fan of country music. Once upon a time, you could catch me saying "I can't stand country music." Going to school in Pennsylvania, I was surrounded by it constantly, so I was basically forced to either enjoy it or be miserable. Then my friends started playing songs by this new guy, Sam Hunt. Then something strange happened. Wait a second, I actually like these songs. And this guy....wait...who is this beautiful, beautiful man? Alas, a love affair was born.
Not that we need any reasons to love this man, but here are just a few as to why everyone should love and adore Sam Hunt:
1. He isn't your typical country singer.
He is more of a pop-country artist, which is 100 percent okay in my book. Sure, his songs all have a country spin to them, but they all have the perfect amount of pop mixed in. Also, they're all catchy af.
2. Those eyes.
It's like they're staring into your soul. You can't help but fall in love.
3. That smile.
Again, need I say more?
4. His style.
Going back to number one, he isn't your typical country boy. You don't see him rocking cowboy hats, but rather rocking some snapbacks. Perfect in every way.
5. His unbelievably sexy voice.
It's so deep and just oh so perfect.
6. He's not just an amazing singer, he was a pretty great football player, too
He played football in college and was the quarterback for the University of Alabama-Birmingham, and was even invited to training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs.
7. He taught himself to play guitar.
Due to injuries, he missed a chunk of one of his football seasons and decided to take up the guitar. He never even saw himself as a musician, but thank God he realized that was exactly what he was meant to do.
8. Before he was famous, he helped co-write some of the greatest country songs.
"Come Over" by Kenny Chesney, "Cop Car" by Keith Urban (which he later recorded himself), and "We Are Tonight" by Billy Currington, just to name a few.
9. Montevallo.
The album that skyrocketed him. It's just...there are no words for how perfect it is.
10. "Body Like A Back Road" is one of the sexiest love songs ever.
Because a love song is pretty much what it is, and it's all about his now wife. While the entire Montevallo album was dedicated to her (she is from Montevallo, Alabama), this song is specifically important to him because they had some issues once Montevallo came out.
11. He is friggin adorable with his wife.
Yeah, I'm jealous too, but come ON. It's so obvious how much he loves her. And when he embarrassed her at the ACM's? Can he be cuter?
12. He is phenomenal live.
I've seen him twice, and both times I was amazed. He is one amazing performer, and his voice is just as sexy (if not sexier) in person.
