12 Reasons To Fall Madly In Love With Fall

Fall is arguably the best time of the year. Yes, summer is amazing. don't get me wrong --I mean who doesn't love no classes and going to the beach? And winter, winter is great too --I mean there's Christmas, New Years, and snowy days to look forward to-- But fall is something really special. Even though I may not love the idea of getting back to school and waking up every morning for class, fall does have it's perks. There are tons of reasons to fall in love with the fall time --here are a few!

1. Bundling Up

It's not full on blizzard mode (thank goodness) but it's also no longer 85 degrees and that is okay because you can bundle up a little more. You can officially dust off your Uggs and break out the oversized sweaters and fuzzy socks --What's not exciting about that?

2. Fall Fashion

I mean sweaters and Uggs are obviously something to get excited about, but there is so much more to look forward to! Jeans, riding boots, leggings, flannels, scarves, quilted vests --it's all pretty exciting.

3. Hot Drinks

Whether you are into coffee, tea or just some warm apple cider --'Tis the season, so drink up!

4. Halloween

I mean who doesn't like dressing up in fun costumes, an excuse to buy excess candy and pumpkins?

5. Baking

Fall is an excuse to eat more food! I mean, nobody really wants to bake when they are too busy baking themselves out in the sun, but once the weather get's cooler baking is a a fun thing to do indoors to stay warm and the perfect opportunity to make all sorts of delicious treats!

6. The Leaves

The leaves are obviously the most gorgeous thing about the fall time. Red, yellow, and orange never look as good as they do when they come in the form of beautiful fall leaves.

7. Fall Festivities

I'm talking haunted houses, corn mazes, hay rides, football games, apple picking, pumpkin picking --the works! There is a plethora of fun fall activities you can partake --and not only give you something to do but, also help you embrace fall and the cold weather ahead instead of dwelling on summer ending and warm weather coming to a close.

8. Candy

Halloween is so exciting mostly because, well, candy is such a crucial part of it (let's be real you don't like dressing up that much). However, Halloween aside, the fall season itself brings a lot of candy. Fall has some candy staples, like candy corn (even if you don't even like it, it's customary to try it at least once every season) and candied or caramel apples!

9. Candles

Going to Bath and Body Works during the fall --at the height of fall candle season-- is equivalent to stepping into heaven. It's one of life's simple pleasures.

10. Movies

Movies are the perfect activity for the fall time because it means you can cuddle up and stay warm. Also, halloween movies are one of the greatest things to watch. Even if you aren't a horror movie lover --that doesn't mean you are left out. You can still enjoy Halloween movies --like a Disney Halloween movie (shoutout to Halloween Town!).

11. Pumpkins

Remember it isn't just fall, it is also more importantly, pumpkin season! Carving pumpkins, painting pumpkins, decorating with pumpkins, picking pumpkins, baking with pumpkins --there is just so many fun activities that involve pumpkin!

12. Thanksgiving

Although, Thanksgiving usually symbolizes the end of fall, you do get to enjoy the best of both worlds with Thanksgiving. You still get to enjoy the fall season --and more importantly you get to enjoy the Macy's Parade and a turkey dinner followed by pumpkin pie-- but it's also basically a pre-Christmas celebration. Thanksgiving isn't just fall related, Thanksgiving means it is now socially acceptable to be in full out Christmas mode (no matter how many people believe Thanksgiving is still too early) so you can knock yourself out and start decorating and buying gifts.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
