Rolling Stone

In the wake of the terrible tragedy of Prince's recent death, here is a list of 10 great songs that everyone should know.

1. When Doves Cry

"How can you just leave me standing? Alone in a world that's so cold? Maybe I'm just too demanding. Maybe I'm just like my father too bold" This track was the top-selling single the year it came out, and to this day it's just a great song to groove to.

2. Kiss

"Ain't no particular sign I'm more compatible with I just want your extra time and your kiss." This is one of Prince's most iconic songs ever, and whenever I listen to it, I end up snapping and body-rolling.

3. Money Don't Matter 2 Night

"Money don't matter to night, it sure didn't matter yesterday
Just when you think you've got more than enough, that's when it all up and flies away" This song is one of Prince's slower jams, but nonetheless a great song to listen to.

4. Batdance

"I've seen the future and it will be. I've seen the future and it will be. BATMAN! BATMAN!" Yes those are the actual lyrics, but this isn't an ordinary song. This track was appropriately included in Tim Burton's eerie Batman movie. The song hit #1 on the charts and the music video is a must-see.

5. I Wanna Be Your Lover

"I didn't wanna pressure you, baby, but all I ever wanted to do...
I wanna be your lover, I wanna be the only one that makes you come running." I am a big fan of a classic 80s funk/dance song and this is one of them. It just makes you wanna groove (sorry, did I say that already? Must happen with all Prince songs)

6. Purple Rain

"You say you want a leader, but you can't seem to make up your mind. I think you better close it, and let me guide you to the purple rain" This song has to be one of my favorite Prince songs because it's just a one-of-a-kind ballad. It has a sick guitar solo and is full of emotion. What else could you ask for in a love song?

7. Controversy

"Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven." If you were wondering: yes, this is the Our Father, and yes, these are the lyrics to this song. Although one of of his lesser known songs, it is just a funk classic.

8. 1999

"Cuz they say two thousand zero zero party over, oops out of time, so tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1999" When everyone thought the world was going to end on the turn of the millennium, Prince was too busy partying. I like his style (and not just his music and clothes).

9. Little Red Corvette

"Little red Corvette, baby you're much too fast. Little red Corvette, you need a love that's gonna last." This track is also one of my favorites, and is easily recognizable if it were to come on the radio.

10. Let's Go Crazy

"Let's go crazy. Let's get nuts. Let's look for the purple banana 'til they put us in the truck, let's go!" These lyrics pretty much put the whole song in perspective; it's just an all-out, fun dance track!

11. I Would Die 4 U

"I'll never beat you. I'll never lie, and if you're evil I'll forgive you by and by. 'Cause you, I would die for you" Another dance track with lots of synths, drum beats, and Prince's conviction.

12. Raspberry Beret

"Raspberry beret, and if it was warm she wouldn't wear much more. Raspberry beret, I think I love her." A song about a random girl wearing a raspberry beret, this is one of Prince's catchiest songs. It will probably be stuck in your head for the rest of the day, but in the best way possible!

Rest In Peace Prince

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
