By now most of us have heard of AMC's hit show, "The Walking Dead." Some of you may be fans from the beginning, and some of you may not be totally sold on the zombie apocalypse appeal. Regardless, this article will illuminate the roller coaster ride of emotions that is "The Walking Dead."
1. Grief
If there's one thing you should know about the show, it's no picnic. No one is safe, and every death is significant. But it makes the world seem more real, and when a character's in danger, you really fear for them.
2. Admiration
When you watch Darryl take out tens of walkers and then coolly light up a cigarette, you can't help but admire his bad-assery. The same goes for almost every other character on the show.
3. Rage
Sometimes – scratch that – most times, things don't go as planned for your favorite characters. Add to the mix the plethora of complex characters, both good and bad, and you've got a show jam-packed with anger invoking scenes.
4. Amazement
If the sheer number of walkers the characters of "TWD" have encountered through the series doesn't amaze you, then the crazy ways they've obliterated them just might. I'm talking head shots, machete blows, heavy artillery and a whole lot of ingenuity.
5. Surprise
The show is famous for its twists and turns, but the characters themselves might just take you aback, as well. Everyone's has to man up and adapt to the apocalypse some time, and you'll never quite guess the fashion in which they do.
6. Fear
Let's face the facts: "TWD" is a horror TV show. The insane and deranged scenarios the characters go through, ranging from decapitating zombies to being slaughtered like pigs by rival groups, makes the show, at its core, scary as hell.
7. Disgust
The producers of "TWD" take great care to keep your zombie needs met, whether that mean grossing you out with guts and gore (and I mean a lot of guts) or showing you bloated well zombies so gruesome you can't eat for days.
8. Awe
Throughout six seasons and 83 episodes, there have been many awe-inspiring moments. Season finales have been infamous for leaving cliff hangers so astonishing, it's almost excruciating to wait until the next season.
9. Contempt
The characters have weathered through countless villains and rival groups in addition to the persistent threat of zombies. Such villains have tortured the group, both emotionally and physically, to the point where you just wanna put your foot down and give 'em the finger.
10. Amusement
Despite its serious nature, the show has some pretty lighthearted moments. It could be the delivery of a line or a total fail, but the show keeps you entertained.
11. Frustration
Maybe you're sick of a certain character's attitude or your favorite character's been in danger for three consecutive episodes, but it's easy to get irritated. Just remember: Everyone gets their just desserts.
12. Happiness
Amongst all these emotions, joy rings true. The feeling of seeing characters reunite after episodes apart or finding safety after seasons of unrest, is unmatched by any other emotion. The complexity of the characters and the plot produces a complicated relationship between viewers and the show, but as a diehard fan like myself can tell you, it's worth it. So if you haven't already, check out "The Walking Dead" on AMC Sundays at 9/8c.
