11 Thoughts I Had While Waiting At The DMV

I just recently had to go to the DMV to get my new big girl 21+ license and the experience made me remember all too well why everyone HATES the DMV. Here are 11 thoughts I had while waiting on line to take one of the worst pictures of my life.

1. Why is this line is around the corner of the building?? You would think they were giving away gold.

2. The guy in front of me can't wait on the line with his poor mother to get HIS picture taken for HIS permit? Nope, he has to sit in the air conditioned car. *eye roll*

3. Here comes the lady with the forms for the fifth time. Maybe if she worked inside instead of just walked around we could actually move this line along??

4. This line is literally not moving and my dad (who kindly drove me to the very difficult to get to DMV) is probably pacing around the parking lot right now.

5. Why is this guy showing the people on line a picture of himself waiting at the DMV in today's newspaper? More importantly if you already waited on line why are you back??

6. How do people decide to work at the DMV? Like what makes you decide I want to work somewhere no one likes going?

7. This envelope that she just put all my confidential items in... looks disgusting. I don't even want to know how many hands have been on this.

8. Omg permit boy doesn't have enough identification and now his mom is yelling at the DMV worker. What is so difficult about the 6-point rule??

9. You gotta love the people who just walk straight into the DMV asking where they get their license renewed thinking that the line outside is NOT for them.

10. Finally, at the picture booth. No smiles, no glasses. So basically I'm going to look nothing like me. Also why is this background such a bright blue??

11. *Looks at license as I run out the door mentally screaming peace out*. Let's just hope I don't have to come back anytime soon.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
