11 Things All True Beachoholics Have In Common

Ahh, the beach. Some love it, some actually hate it, and some of us really couldn't imagine life without it. If you're lucky enough to live or grow up close to the coast, chances are, trips to the beach are a pretty regular thing. The fun, relaxation, sunny days, rainy days, smell of salt, sand everywhere -- it's all part of it. It doesn't have to be a big vacation with the nicest, newest hotel. Us avid beach goers are just happy for every little trip we get, and if you qualify as one of these people, you can probably agree with these 11 things.

1. You’re perfectly content with staying in a place as small as Patrick’s rock.

You could be in a small, one bedroom shack, or a mansion. But does it really matter? You get to go to the beach, and that’s more than enough!

2.You instantly get excited thinking of summer holidays (especially the Fourth of July).

This one is simple: family, friends, tacky party favors and fireworks. Oh, and the beach of course.

3. That feeling you get when someone says, “Just open up my cooler and grab whatever you want.”

Because what’s better than a free drink or snack? Especially at the beach. You gladly accept their offer, because you always offer, too.

4. That sandwich you packed in a Ziploc baggie taste like a five-course meal.

It’s a scientific fact that everything tastes better while sitting in a beach chair, and that plain ham and cheese sandwich in your cooler is a prime example.

5. When your friend asks, “Wanna go on our boat tomorrow?”

Do I even need to explain this one?

6. You try to fit in every last minute of beach time you can.

Staying on the beach until sunset is where it's at. I mean, you don't have anywhere to go or anything to do -- so why not? Plus, that view can't be beat.

7. Tan lines are just another fashion trend.

And that's perfectly acceptable. Tan lines from your sunglasses, tan lines from your flip flops, tan lines from falling asleep with your hand on your belly: basically just a souvenir that you were at the beach all week.

8. Seafood for lunch, seafood for a snack, and seafood for dinner.

Raw oysters, crab legs, popcorn shrimp, smoked tuna dip... I could go on and on. Seafood is everywhere and you love it.

9. Somewhere in your house are those old family beach pictures where everyone is dressed in khakis or denim and white shirts.

I think awkward poses were also essential for family beach pictures (refer back to image for a real life photo of me as proof).

10. You don't mind getting a little dirty in the sand or taking a dip in the water.

...Or completely wiping out when a big wave comes. It's all in good fun. Sitting pretty all day long is for the birds. After a while, boogie boarding, swimming to the sandbar, and jumping in waves is where the fun is.

11. You would't trade your memories at the beach for anything.

In true beachoholic fashion, your whole family loves the beach as much as you and you probably grew up going to the beach a lot. Which means you have so many memories with your family and friends to cherish at one of your all-time favorite places. Many of your favorite stories as a child probably start with, "That one time we were all at the beach..." Through the hard times and good, the beach was always around, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
