Oh, middle school. The time of boy bands, and the years that people look back on and laugh. Looking through old yearbooks and looking super awkward, with unruly hair, band tshirts, and multicolor braces. In my case, I had the awkwardness, the unruly hair, and flying saucer glasses. Those glasses were multicolored, and they were bigger than my face. Middle school is not the average person's friend. However, there were songs from middle school that everybody knew. Maybe this list will help bring back memories.
1. 'Let It Rock' by Kevin Rudolph and Lil Wayne
Now, this song is upbeat and was a wonderful song choice for my physical education teachers to play when they would have us run in circles for two minutes. To this day it still has potential to be a wonderful workout song.
2. 'Don’t Trust Me' by 3OH!3
This song was….wow. This song had
so many things in it it was hard for a middle schooler to listen to
without his/her parents knowing. Yet, so many students got away with it and it
spread like wildfire. This song is still a good one, though.
3. 'Shake It' by Metro Station
Miley Cyrus’ brother, Trace, was
the lead singer for this band. Finding this out in middle school just made it
all more appealing. Plus, it was a good song to just dance around to.
4. 'Cooler Than Me' by Mike Posner
This song basically said
everything a preteen boy would want to say to a girl. Just in more of a cooler
way.
5. 'Billionaire' by Travie McCoy ft. Bruno Mars
Everybody knew this song by heart.
Screaming it out at the top of their lungs, and always having the dream of
literally becoming a billionaire. Now, if only all this was true…
6. 'The Lazy Song' by Bruno Mars
This song was what EVERYBODY
wanted to do. Not go to school, no rules, no homework…it sounded wonderful. Now
the whistle part in this song was very catchy as well.
7. 'Hey Soul Sister' by Train
When this song came out everybody
was confused by the title. But with its catchiness, it really caught on, and
soon all preteen girls were singing this song in the car.
8. 'Fireflies' by Owl City
This was one of their breakout
songs. It captured the hears of so many young teens. It was gradually gaining
its fans, and when it did, people were all over it. So many MP3 downloads, and
so many CD’s bought JUST for this one song.
9. 'Pumped Up Kicks' by Foster the People
I never really knew what to think
of this song. Of course everybody has heard the theory of it being related to a
school shooting, which is just a scary thought that it would be famous if it
were true. I don’t think it was based off that, but it IS catchy. All the “rebel”
kids loved to listen to this.
10. 'Dirty Little Secret' by All American Rejects
This song had such an interesting
music video. Everybody always ran to the computer to watch the music video when
it first came out. I always found myself watching it over and over reading all
the actors’ secrets.
11. 'The Story of a Girl' by 3 Doors Down
3 Doors Down was a band that had a “rocker” type of feel. They weren’t pop, but they were not rock either. They were in between, and people loved them. This song spoke to a lot of preteen girls, and they were left feeling like that girl in the story.
