11 Signs You're Older Than Your Actual Age

You've probably heard it said so many times -- "you're so much more mature than you look!" Or something along those lines. It's not necessarily a bad thing. Just because you're not into all of the same things your friends and sisters are doesn't mean you're weird or that you don't like to have fun. You just like to have fun in your own ways! Here are 11 ways that you're probably a lot older than your actual age.

1. You prefer wine over any other alcohol.

There's nothing like relaxing with a glass of wine. It's classier and it tastes better than the bitter liquor and beer your friends are drinking.

2. Relaxing on the couch with some Netflix or going to bed early are your ideas of a fun night.

At the end of the day, you don't want to go out. You want to finish the homework you have for the next day and relax. You'd much prefer to get into bed, turn on an episode of Making a Murderer, and most likely fall asleep in the middle of it. You'll like everyone's Instagram pictures from White Girl Wednesday in the morning after you get a full night's sleep.

3. You can't always relate to the things your friends do, say or experience.

You don't understand why everyone worries so much about boys, tanning and formal dresses. You just want to discuss last night's episode of Grey's, not try to piece your roommate's night together after Thirsty Thursday.

4. You don't stand for pettiness.

You couldn't care any less about who is fighting with who, who said what at chapter, or who hooked up with who. You're mature enough to know that even your own roses have thorns, so you stay on your side of the fence.

5. You look forward to doing adult-ish things.

You love to use your Saturday to wake up early and head to Target before the crowds get too large. Then you'll finish the rest of your errands, come home and make lunch and figure out the rest of your plans for the day, which might just end up bringing you back to #2.

6. Your friends call you "mom."

You're always looking after your friends even when you're not with them. You ask them to text you when you get home, you're the one they come to for advice, and you always let them know when they're wrong. You offer guidance and worry about them a lot.

7. You want to spend more time with your family than with your friends.

You realize how important family really is, and since you're pretty much over the whole college scene anyway, you really look forward to spending time with your loved ones at home, wherever that may be and whoever may make it up.

8. Your priorities are MUCH more than what frat you'll be going to on Friday.

School, work, health and relationships are what you concern yourself with more. Those things all need to be taken care of first before you can think of parties and socials.

9. You set huge goals for yourself.

They aren't just "to be financially stable" or "marry the person of my dreams." You know exactly what you want, detail the plan to achieve it, and don't stop until you get there. You have the mental tenacity to accept defeat and rejection with poise and use it as a stepping stone to do better and be better.

10. You actually worry about things most people your age haven't thought of yet.

You find yourself thinking about retirement and pondering the world of 401Ks and Roth IRAs. You worry about savings accounts and student loans and insurance and interest rates and mortgages and everything that everyone else your age isn't worried about (but they should be). You do all the research you can to make sure you're being a smart consumer.

11. You aren't afraid of commitment.

You probably have the same friends and/or significant other that you've had for the past few years. When you make a relationship, you're in it for the long haul. You're in it for all that it is. When they're romantic relationships, you're no longer interested in the dating scene or college hook-up scene. You aren't afraid of the messiness and hurt feelings that sometimes come with romantic relationships, and you have the grit to get through it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
