There's something really special that happens when musicians of the rock genre come together. Their collaborations are really something because of the unique flare everyone is able to add. These artists by themselves are fantastic, yes, but when you bring two sounds together into one - something really beautiful happens, and you'll find that beautiful something in the following list of songs.
1. Against Me! - "Borne on the FM Waves of the Heart"
This song features Tegan Quin from Tegan and Sara. I found it on Andy Biersack's Myspace account in 2010, and fell in love immediately. The back-and-forth lines in the verses present an artistic conversation that has a yearning desperation to it.
2. A Day to Remember - "If It Means a Lot to You"
Featuring Versa Emerge's Sierra Kay, "If It Means a Lot to You" is a chilling rendition of separation and how two people cope with it.
3. In This Moment - "The Promise"
In This Moment put together the talents of Adrian Patrick from "Otherwise" and their very own ethereal, powerful Maria Brink. It's haunting, captivating, and it's going to take your breath away. That's my promise.
4. Papa Roach - "Gravity"
Maria Brink brings out her powerful pipes in this one, too. This song presents the dichotomy in a two-sided conflict among couples, the hopeful desperation and furious retaliation, as well as the sorrow and regret of broken promises.
5. Seether - "Broken"
Featuring Amy Lee from "Evanescence," "Broken" is a chilling duet of piecing something back together when you're not even sure if it's shattered.
6. Motionless in White - "Contemptress"
Yes, Maria Brink is back, this time with Chris Motionless of "Motionless in White." These two together bring forth a whimsical darkness in their talents. You can also catch Chris Motionless in the music video for In This Moment's "Whore." When these two come together, you know you're going to walk away with something incredible.
7. Black Veil Brides - "Days Are Numbered"
This was a perfect song for the Brides to feature Bert McCracken. You've got the rip-roaring guitars that aren't unfamiliar to The Used, as well as the chaotic flare McCracken adds with his easily identifiable voice. It's a wonderful mix, and makes for a powerful call to arms.
8. You Me at Six - "Always Attract"
Elisa Franceschi comes in near the end of this song, but that doesn't take away from her presence in it.
9. All Time Low - "Remembering Sunday"
Juliet Simms was the runner-up on the 2012 season of The Voice, but this song was recorded long before her vocal prowess was finally televised.
10. Go Radio - "Forever My Father"
It's hard to get through this one without tearing up. The special thing about this song is that the lead singer of Go Radio, Jason Lancaster, features his siblings, Erin and Daniel, which makes for a very powerful piece about familial solidarity in loss.
BONUS: Andy Black feat. Patrick Stump
Okay, so I may not know the song title yet, but all I know is Andy Biersack's solo project, Andy Black, is going to feature Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy, and it's hard to not be excited about that.
YOU'RE WELCOME!
