By now you have probably heard of Stranger Things, a Netflix original show that has grown in popularity. I am a recent fan thanks to my roommate, who watched it with me and got me hooked on this unique and amazing show. If you have heard of it or if this is your first time, I hope with this article I can persuade you to look it up and watch it because it is honestly one the best shows I have watched in a long time. Here are 11 reasons why you should watch the show!

1. It captures the 80's

Now I didn't grow up in the 80's but from what I can tell from people who did, this show captures the aspects of life during that decade extremely well. Whether or not you were around for the 80's, it is still an unique and well-done setting for a modern day show. It could be an ode to your childhood!

2. It is an emotional roller-coaster

You will feel a range of emotions during an episode. You will laugh, cry, scream, and feel nostalgic all in one sitting and then you will be so intrigued by what is happening that you will repeat the process by watching another episode.

3. It is terrifyingly Intriguing

This show does an amazing job terrifying you. You won't know what is coming next and each time the light flickers you will now wonder if something isn't trying to communicate with from "The Upside Down."

4. It has an unique story

There aren't many shows out there right now like this one. The main story is unique and gripping and never feels like it is lacking in content or exceeding with too much. It moves at the right pace so you feel hooked but also like you have been given the right amount of information and the proper amount of time to enjoy what is happening. Each minor story, like the romances, are believable and even break the stereotypical archetypes that are in so many shows. This leads to people like me, who focus on flaws of a show to the point where I don't enjoy it, to really and truly love this show for all it is.

5. It has believable and lovable characters

Every single character adds something to the show. Everyone watching has their favorite, whether that be "mom-jean" wearing Barb or the bad ass, telepathic Eleven, this show has someone everyone can feel attached to and grow to love. The actors' chemistry in this show shines through because the friendships, relationships, and even the arguments all seem believable in the story.

6. It has the right amount of humor

I am all about comic relief and when a show does it right, it actually makes me laugh. Comic relief in this show mainly comes through Dustin (pictured above) but also comes through the fact that the main characters are kids and that kids devote ten hours to Dungeon and Dragons and go after monsters with slingshots.

7. You will feel nostalgic memories

As someone who is exiting their childhood and teenage years and entering young adulthood, watching a show like this makes me feel nostalgic in a way that I love feeling. I remember having these childhood friendships where we got together and played games and used our imaginations, I reminisce about High School and my hometown and how much has changed. This isn't a bad feeling to have and a show like this really brings back the good memories (in between the times where there are strange things happening of course)

8. You will feel so many feelings

As written before, you will purchase a one-way ticket on the emotional roller-coaster when you watch this show. Just be prepared to feel happy, scared, sad, petrified, disgusted, amused, and intrigued all in the first five minutes.

9. You can relate to several characters

When a show has believable and lovable characters, every viewer can find one they relate to the most and care for them throughout the show. Whether you relate with the kids or the parents or the siblings in the show, you will find ones to love.

10. The music

Do you like synth-heavy music and classic 80's songs? Well, you will love this show.

11. What better way is there to spend your free-time?

When you find yourself with nothing to do, I recommend looking this show up. Just be prepared to binge-watch, so maybe make sure you have A LOT of free time.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
