11 Reasons to Love Tim Riggins

Ask anyone who has seen a wide variety of Netflix series, and they’ll say “Friday Night Lights” is pretty high up on the favorites list. How can anyone not love the show when it encounters a plethora of scenarios? You have an amazing love story between Coach Taylor and Tami. You watch Julie Taylor grow up from an adolescent to being engaged to her high school sweetheart. You watch all the other characters encounter typical high school drama like cheating, pregnancies, everything you can imagine. But the best part of this entire series? Two words. Tim Riggins. Argue all you want but Tim Riggins is one of TV’s biggest heartthrobs. For any girl that watched the series from beginning to end, it’s safe to say at one point or another you fell in love with Riggins. Here’s why.

1. He had that mysterious bad boy persona.
In the beginning of the first season he barely talked. People would address him and he would maybe say one word. When Lyla yelled at him for not visiting Jason in the hospital, and they started to hook up, there was something about you that wasn’t too mad about it because you wanted Tim Riggins to have whatever he wanted.

2. He was Dillon Panther’s star fullback/running back.
What girl doesn’t love a football stud? Because he was so good, I guess that’s why he got away with so much. Buddy Garrity even says in an episode “I’ve seen you (Tim Riggins) play with a hangover many times and you played like a champ.” So everyone in Dillon knew he was an alcoholic but didn’t really care much to bench him or suspend him from a few games.

3. He covered up for Billy and went to prison.
Taking the blame for Billy’s habit of stripping cars was the biggest sacrifice. Ensuring his nephew wouldn’t grow up without his father was the most compassionate thing Tim ever did.

4. He helped Becky make the biggest decision of her life.
When Becky came crying to Tim because she got pregnant, Tim did the smart thing and led her to the wise Tami Taylor for advice.

5. He stuck with Lyla through thick and thin.
When Lyla had an entire website dedicated to her being a tramp, Tim wasn’t afraid to sit with her at lunch and make sure she knew she had a shoulder to lean on. Isn’t that what every girl wants? Tim Riggins to lean on?

6. He never took advantage of a girl.
Although we know Tim Riggins had girls crawling out of his trailer before sunrise, he was for the most part pretty respectful towards girls. When he had to assist a drunk Julie Taylor, it was she that made the moves on Tim and Tim denied her. What a gentleman.

7. He knows how to party.
The amount of scenes we’ve seen with a beer in his hand is countless. I suppose you can call him a functioning alcoholic, but Tim always knew how to have a good time.

8. He speaks his mind.
One of the best lines during the football roast was “Hey, how about Saracen sleeping with the coach’s daughter?” with both Coach and Tami in the room to hear this. And better yet when he admitted to disliking Smash in the season opener, not because of his color but because he just didn’t like him.

9. He loves children.
There is not one girl whose heart doesn’t melt at the sight of an attractive guy playing with kids. The sight of him playing with the coach’s daughter, Gracie Belle, and his own nephew released so many “aww”s out of every girl’s mouth. And the thought that every girl had of wanting Tim to father their children.

10. He’s humble.
Compared to J.D. McCoy he is the most selfless kid in all of Dillon. When he played the game of his life and was awarded the game-winning ball he didn’t accept it. He gave it to his best friend Jason Street knowing that Jason would never play a game of football again because he was paralyzed.

11. He looks great shirtless.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
