Recently, the final season of "New Girl" was announced to premiere in April 2018. Personally, I couldn't be more excited to see the new season! The cast is full of hilarious actors who work so well together. I am definitely going to miss all of the characters, but I can relate to one character above the rest. Jessica Day is the main character of the show. She is played by the quirky, wonderful, adorable Zooey Deschanel.
Here's some reasons why she is the best!!
1. She's goofy.
In this incredibly negative world we live in, Jess is a joy to watch. She always makes a total goon out of herself, and it never fails to put a smile on my face.
2. She is fashionable.
Jess makes it look effortless to look chic with her swoop bangs and polka dot outfits. She is comfortable yet pretty!
3. When she gets knocked down, she doesn't give up.
During Season 2, Jess is laid off from her teaching job. After a normal amount of mourning time, Jess gets right back out there and teaches again. She eventually becomes principal!
4. She is a great friend.
Jess and Cece have been friends since they were kids. Jess is always the first person that Cece calls when she needs help because she knows Jess will always be there for her. Also, when any of her roommates have a bad day, Jess is willing to listen to them talk about the problem.
5. She is passionate.
The show begins with Jess catching her boyfriend cheating and moving out of their apartment. During the series, Jess goes through other relationships, some that are quite difficult to handle. Regardless of the turmoil, she refuses to give until she finds her person.
6. She is a girl who knows what she wants.
Without first knowing what you want, you cannot move forward in life. Jess is a woman with her priorities in check.
7. She sings all the time.
Singing is a great way to pass the time and also make yourself happier. Jess spends at least 80 percent of the show singing to others (and herself).
8. She is OK with being single/alone.
Though Jess enjoys being in relationships, she knows it is important to have alone time. She is a strong independent woman and can have just as much fun being alone as with her friends.
9. She wants the best for everyone.
(SPOILER AHEAD) Jess knows toward the end of the sixth season that she wants to be with Nick, but doesn't pursue him because he is in a relationship. She wants him to behappy regardless of the way it makes her feel. That's a woman to look up to.
10. She is wise beyond her years.
Jess is a woman who knows how to take care of herself when times are tough. She takes care of herself, does her share of adulting and fights for what she wants.
11. She is unapologetically herself.
Jess understands that not everyone likes the things she likes (crafts, polka dots, glitter, playing the bells) but still enjoys these things anyways. She is not worried about fitting in and isn't fake in any way. She is Jessica Day, plain and simple.
These are just some of the reasons that Jessica Day is not only very relatable but also a great role model to all women around. If you have never seen "New Girl," give it a chance, if not only to see the fantastic Zooey portraying Jess!
