11 Life Lessons From Disney
Disney Films

In times of trouble, or when I'm feeling down, some of the fondest memories I call upon to make me feel better involve Disney movies. I absolutely love how they make you feel! Their stories always seem to strike just the right chord with us, and through heart-touching stories, music, and characters, they leave you with the right heart and spirit to take on the real world-- making you twitterpated, getting rid of your worries (and your strifes) for the rest of your days, and helping you find the element of fun in every job that must be done.

If you grew up watching Disney movies, then there's probably plenty of words of wisdom that can give you a boost when life gives you more lemons. Now lets look back at some of our beloved Disney characters, and get a little reminder if you're in need of some Disney inspiration:

1. Don't judge a book by it's cover.

Belle found something really special in The Beast by opening him up and (metaphorically, of course) seeing inside. We should try that with the seemingly beastly people we might know in our lives—who knows? There may be something there we didn't see before!

2. Adventure is out there!

Whether you're an old retired widow or a talking dog, adventure is out there! Go find it!

3. You're the one who can fill the world with sunshine!

Take Snow White's mantra with you every day, and be the sunshine this world needs!

4. If the shoe fits, wear it (to a magnificent ball!)

Cinderella didn't ask for a fairy godmother, but she needed a miracle. When an opportunity comes your way, take it!

5. When life gets you down, just keep swimming!

Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do you do? You swim, swim, swim.

6. Try to look from a different angle.

Hiro Hamada solved many problems by looking at them another way! You can too!

7. We might ask God for an angel, but sometimes, he sends a dog.

Be honest—it was the dog that rescued you.

8. Love is putting someone else's needs before your own.

Like Kristoff did! Do the same, and hopefully you can find someone that will reciprocate with you!

9. Heroes come in all species and sizes.

Judy AND Nick couldn't have done it all without each other!

10. Sometimes the right path is not the easiest one.

Take it from our favorite Willow—sometimes doing the harder thing is the better thing.

And finally:

11. IT'S A TRAP

Have a magical day!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
