11 John Green Quotes That Changed YA Readers' Lives

Just a few days ago, the world just got a little bit brighter when the Young Adult author, John Green, announced that he will be releasing a new book in October 2017. John Green is known for his amazing books such as "The Fault In Our Stars" and 'Paper Towns," both of which were a huge success on and off screen. If this new book is anything like his older ones, we should all be very excited.

As a die-hard Green fan and a dedicated reader, I've been sitting around just waiting to hear the news that he'll be releasing a new book. But hey, we should all understand that Green is a human just like the rest of us; he has a wife, kids and writing a book isn't as easy as everyone thinks it is. Especially as a Young Adult author, it is difficult to come out with ideas that haven't been done before or ideas that will surely intrigue the reader. Green's stories usually center around a teenager/young adult, who is quirky, sarcastic, and they usually end up falling for someone who is out of their league or mysterious and different in some way.

In honor of Green's new novel, set to be released October 10 of this year, here is a list of Green's best quotes that will forever remain my favorite quotes from literature.

1. "The marks humans leave are too often scars." — The Fault In Our Stars

2. “What is the point of being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable?” ― An Abundance of Katherines

3. “When I look at my room, I see a girl who loves books.” ― Looking for Alaska

4. "Okay?...Okay." — The Fault In Our Stars

5.“It is so hard to leave—until you leave. And then it is the easiest goddamned thing in the world.” ― Paper Towns

6.“Some tourists think Amsterdam is a city of sin, but in truth, it is a city of freedom. And in freedom, most people find sin.” ― The Fault in Our Stars

7.“I may die young, but at least I'll die smart.” ― Looking for Alaska

8.“Some people have lives; some people have music.” ― Will Grayson, Will Grayson

9.“My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations.” ― The Fault in Our Stars

10.“You gave me a forever within the numbered days, and I'm grateful.” ― The Fault in Our Stars

11."I'm in love with you, and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I'm in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we're all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we'll ever have, and I am in love with you.” ― The Fault in Our Stars

There is no doubt that John Green made me laugh, cry, and sometimes both of those things all at once. I am very excited to read his new book this Fall. His writing brings joy to readers while also including those that never thought they'd be represented. Thank you, John Green, for being such a lovely human being.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
