If you're a former teacher, current teacher, or pursuing a teaching career, you have probably searched Pinterest up and down and asked many teachers for advice on things for your classroom. I have narrowed it down to 10 things that I feel EVERY teacher needs in his/her classroom and things that I WILL have in my classroom. Let's get started, friends!

1. Classroom Decorations

Whether you have a theme or just need to "spruce up" your classroom, decorations are a MUST. Now I have learned that you don't need to have too many decorations such as posters, colors, etc because students will get distracted. A little goes a loooong way.

2. Dry Erase Boards

Whether you need to practice Math problems or cursive writing, dry erase boards are a MUST for every classroom. I always appreciated my teachers having these in their classrooms because I could work out my problems on them or use them during group work. Best invention ever!!

3. Construction Paper

Having an overwhelming amount of construction paper in your classroom will be a great thing so you don't have to fight your co-workers in the teacher work room. Find some construction paper in bulk on Amazon and you will be set! Your students will definitely appreciate it when it comes to arts and crafts, science fair projects, and more.

4. Crayons

When you were a kid ( or still today) , you have always loved crayons. I feel that every classroom should be stocked to the rims with crayons because every student should be able to use their imagination in a colorful way. Crayons will be your lifesavers on those hard days when your students just need to color.

5. Hand Sanitizer

I don't care what school or classroom you are in, hand sanitizer is a must. Whether your students are headed to lunch or the bathroom, they will need to wipe away those nasty germs and you will too. Put these on your school supply list NOW.

6. Organizational Bins

Organization is key in every classroom. Whether it's a file cabinet or a desk organizer, every classroom needs a whole lot of organization and a lot less chaos. Go to Target or Hobby Lobby and find some cute bins to organize in a fun way!

7. Rules Chart

In just about every classroom you have been in, I am sure you have seen a "Rules Chart" somewhere on the wall. Students need to be reminded of the rules you have set in your classroom and how they can get on your good side just my following some rules. Simple as that, right?

8. Pencils

Pencils, Pencils, and more Pencils. Every teacher you have ever known has had endless supplies of pencils in his/her classroom at the beginning of the year and NONE at the end. Make sure to stock up on pencils, teachers!

9. Tape

I know I was the student that always needed Tape, why I don't know. A teacher should always have a tape dispenser on their desk.

10. Manipulatives

Coming from the girl who was in Teacher Cadets, Manipulatives are SO SO important to have. They will help students bring their work to life and be able to apply hands-on activities to their work.

11. Inspiring Quotes

I was the student that always read the charts with quotes on them in the classroom. Make sure to have some posters with motivating quotes on them for your students to read while they are taking tests or just doing class work.

I know there is SO much more that every classroom needs but these are 11 that I feel are at the top! I can't wait to have a classroom of my own one day and make my students feel at home! If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
