When thinking about where you fit in in regards to your friend group, I am always pulled by a very strong connection to one Chandler Bing. Ask any of my friends and they'll say they can always count on me in any given conversation for the awkward interruption with a terrible joke or weird quip to contribute to our conversation or embarrass myself. I can't help it.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels like this! Chandler Bing is so relatable, so awkward, and so hilarious. Who wouldn't want to be him? Here are some ways to know that you are the Chandler Bing of your friend group. Every group's got him.
1. You can't deal with awkward silence, so you fill it with an even more awkward comment or joke.
Thus making everyone feel even more awkward in the process. You can't help it.
2. You're always cracking jokes about your friends.
But the minute they start messing with you, as they say, you can't take what you dish out.
3. They constantly catch you acting like a total dork.
They love you for it anyway. Also, they accept your terrible dance moves. Bless them.
4. And thank God they do, because you are AWFUL at small talk.
You couldn't make new friends even if you wanted to.
5. Emotions make you uncomfortable, all the time.
And your friends have a lot of them, especially when it comes to boy drama. You try to make them feel better when they're down, but you're not equipped to deal with FEELINGS. C'mon.
6. This may be because you don't normally have any drama.
As Chandler, you tend to hang back in the background. Always the Chandler, never the Ross.
7. But you embrace it with open arms, and develop a hobby, like pranking your friends, getting cats, or, in my case, Chipotle.
Everybody's got a thing, right? Chipotle is mine.
8. You're probably a little emotionally immature.
Even though all of your pals are in relationships, the thought of it freaks you out to no end, at least for now. Don't worry, though, you'll find your Monica soon enough.
9. You also suck at cute group pictures.
This can be a huge issue in your group of gal pals, who are the definition of cute. Ask me to strike a ridiculous pose or ugly selfie and I'll go nuts, but tell me to pose to the side or sorority squat and I stick out like a sore thumb.
10. You may use humor as a guard against real feelings, but truth be told, you love your friends and would do anything for them.
That's the great thing about being Chandler Bing, you don't care if you're awkward or lame as long as you've got your friends there to laugh with/at you.
