10 Ways To Keep Busy With Online Classes

Wake up, eat, log onto Zoom, sleep, eat, Zoom again, eat, and sleep. The never ending cycle that we've been familiar with since March.

Since summer is coming to a close, it's time we begin to focus on our classes and grades once again. Although, just because you have virtual classes does not mean you can't enjoy yourself. The patterns of school, eat, sleep, and repeat should be forgotten. With feeling like we have to teach ourselves the material given, it seems our days are dwindling down to only a few hours of peace and that's when we will not want to leave the bed. However, you can stay productive in those moments of tranquility to keep yourself from feeling lazy and slow.

Here are ten ways to keep busy when it comes to virtual learning.

1. Try reading a book that interests you, not for a class. Whether it's on your phone or a physical copy, reading allows you to keep your brain active. Squeezing a bit of reading in between classes can lower the chances of you losing motivation before your next Zoom class.

2. Go on a walk or bike ride. It's one of the least stressful ways to keep busy if you ask me. You only have to focus on where you're going, it gives your brain a break before being given more material to study.

3. Try some meditation to ease your stress. It can make you feel productive without applying more pressure onto you.

4. One of my favorites, have your own dance party. Face it, staying in bed all day between classes will get boring. Just jumping up to dance around your room with some of your favorite tunes can boost your mood.

5. If you have the chance, take a swim while the weather is still good. Take advantage of those hour breaks with jumping in a refreshing pool. Don't let the days pass because before you know it there will be snow falling and icy roads, aka it'll be time to keep warm inside.

6. Take up art. It gives your left side of the brain a chance to relax and puts the right side to work. And, who knows? The future Da Vinci and Picasso are among us, it might just be you.

7. Try to cook and bake some new recipes you've been dying to taste. There are tons of recipes that take a few hours to make so you can focus on your classes while it's in the oven.

8. Catch up on some future deadlines. When you have breaks between Zoom calls, it doesn't hurt to catch up on some work. In the end it can help lower your stress from having assignments pile up.

9. Take a bath and give yourself a spa day. Take some time to relax your brain and body.

10. Reorganize your living space. I can't be the only one who always finds time to switch around my bedroom. It just gets old looking at the same room. Plus, this way you can find out if you need to buy more home decor.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
