Summer is a time for beach tanning, pool parties, and saving some extra cash. Free time allows for netflix binge watching, book reading, and personal exploration. Here are 10 creative things you can do to make the most of your free time.

1. Make a Scrapbook

This is a way of remembering all the moments from the past school year. Maybe even down the road you can show your kids your crazy college phase.

2. Paint an abstract canvas for your dorm

I'm sure its easier sad than done, but why not give it a try? Soon all your friends will be asking you for a canvas.

3. Take on photography

Photography can work with a digital camera or an iphone camera. I have a $500 starter level camera and it was one of the best investments I've ever made. Whether you are taking pictures of the beach sunset, or leading a photoshoot with friends, taking photos is a sure way to capture your summer fun.

4. Try out a new recipe

Whether you want to cook from your grandma's recipe book, a DIY facebook video, or a vegan blog, cooking is a way to tune into new cultures and ideas. It is sure to come with a (hopefully) tasty reward.

5. Make a dream catcher

These are therapeutic to create and make a cute gift or decoration for almost anything.

6. Start a creative writing journal.

Whether you like journaling, poetry, fiction writing, or doodling, a journal can be a way to get your thoughts down on paper and reflect. You can always look back and see how far you have come.

7. Experiment with different makeup tutorials

Makeup is the best when you can just have fun with it and not worry too much about the outcome.

8. Make your own bracelets.

Cute bracelets are surprisingly easy to make with the right beads. Get with your friends, go back to your childhood roots, and make some cute friendship bracelets.

9. Make your own bullet journal

Bullet journals are a way to personalize your planner. Start working on one now for the upcoming school year.

10. Create content on Odyssey!

Odyssey has honestly given me a place to let my creativity flourish. It has allowed me to express myself in so many ways and has been one of the coolest opportunities in my college career. I recommend if you have any interest in writing, that you do the same!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
