2015 was a year of trials and tribulations. The pressure on us to find out who we were and where we were going, sometimes made us lose sight of what our goals even were. Here are 10 things you need to bring into 2016 to help see the world a little clearer.
1. Just because somebody makes you uncomfortable doesn’t mean you have the right to disrespect his or her humanity.
"Treat the janitor with the same level of respect as the CEO.” We’ve learned that black, white, gay, trans, fat, skinny, ugly, beautiful- all deserve the same dignity and humanity.
"2. Some people will not love you back. It is not their fault.
The way you give love is not in fact how others may receive love. Sometimes people will just not see the light in your eyes, like you saw in theirs.
3. It is not your fault either.
Don’t stop giving love. Someone, someday, will appreciate just how breathtaking you are.
4. There should be no one else in the world as big a fan of yourself, as you.
You’re at the age where everyone is just trying to figure out how to get better, be better. You need yourself on your team, because sometimes, that may be all you have.
5. Nothing makes success as sweet as having first known the bitterness of failure.
It’s natural to fail. It’s okay to fail. It’s normal to fail. Remember that. It isn’t as rewarding if you always succeed on the first try.
6. There will be bad days.
Life is stressful; there are days when everything comes crashing down. There are days when nothing is looking up. There are days when getting out of bed seems almost impossible.
7. A lot of them.
Sometimes it may feel like you haven’t seen a good day in months. It’s coming- and it’ll make you forget all the bad days you had.
8. But there will be amazing, beautiful, touching days. Cherish them.
By doing just the smallest thing and getting yourself up and ready, you have created the possibility for a sensational day. Life gives you lemons all the time. Use them.
9. I promise, you will never regret all the places you visited, even if you’re broke from it.
Take the vacation, go on the trip. Plan a spring break. Plan a getaway. Or don’t plan. Just go. There is too much world to see and not a good enough excuse to stay in one place.
10. A good bed solves a lot of problems.
Make it enjoyable to come home, even if you’re coming home by yourself. Having a place for just you to enjoy is key to living happily.
