1. Go to the Met
No matter how many times you have been to the Met, I guarantee you haven't seen everything there is to see (IT'S HUGE!!!). There's a variety of wonderful exhibits and many new things to see. I love the Egyptian exhibit because it makes you feel like you're actually in Egypt. It also makes you thankful for the fact that you live in this current day and age.
2. Visit the Brooklyn Botanic Garden
If you're in NYC, its highly likely that you're staying somewhere in Manhattan, so if you're looking for adventure and feel like making the trek to Brooklyn (it's really not that long, I promise) head to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, which is located in Prospect Park. It's really a great place to hang out with family or relax on a Sunday. The surrounding neighborhoods near prospect park are also very pretty, mainly made up of brownstones and cute little restaurants, so if you want to stop by after I highly recommend you do.
3. Head to Smorgasburg
If you find yourself in the Williamsburg area on a Saturday, I recommend you check out Smorgasburg, which is a food truck haven. The food there is crazy and absolutely amazing! They have ramen burgers (the bun is made of ramen noodles) and some amazing fresh coconut drinks and various cultural delicacies. It could also be a good place to take someone on a casual first date!
4. Eat at Katz's Deli
If you love some Jewish sandwiches, pastrami, or roast beef, this is the place for you. This is probably a tourist-y area, but the food is very much worth it. Although you probably won't finish the sandwich (at least I didn't) it is very well worth buying a full one.
5. Take a picture at Lincoln Center
The performing arts center is absolutely phenomenal to look at at night and you'll probably get some amazing photos for your Instagram while visiting! There's a fountain right in the middle for your pictures and then a little grassy area nearby for when you want to sit down and relax and talk to friends.
6. Go to Barcade
A bar and an arcade in one place? crazy I know! But seriously, drink some beers and try to actually be good at an arcade game, and you'll find that its relatively entertaining.
7. Try some Ukrainian food at Veselka
I have had some of the best food on the planet at Veselka! They have some delicious dumplings and various European foods that you've probably never heard of before. The atmosphere is great and everyone there is basically a college student or someone around the age of the general college student, so you'll feel like you're on a campus (kind of). It's located on the lower east side, so if you plan on
8. Get a cupcake at Magnolia Bakery
Honestly, I absolutely hate cupcakes (and everyone shits on my life because of it) but Magnolia is the only place where I will willingly buy and eat a cupcake. Seriously, all of their baked goods are amazing. If you're feeling in the mood for something else, their banana pudding is the best I have ever had in my entire life (not kidding).
9. Go visit the Guggenheim
The Guggenheim museum is absolutely fantastic if you're into modern art. The museum itself is also really cool inside and has a sort of winding staircase style (it's hard to explain). It's one of my favorite museums, but I am also biased because of the fact that I love modern art.
10. Walk the Brooklyn Bridge
Some of the best views in New York City are seen from the Brooklyn Bridge. Not only is the walk very refreshing and basically gets rid of any need to work out, it is also an experience in itself because of all the different cultures you'll get to see (there is a LOT of tourists there). Afterwards, you can also pop into Brooklyn Bridge Park and grab a slice of pizza at Grimaldi's. (Definitely get the pizza...)
Wherever you end up going, remember that there are so many different things to do in New York! Adventure awaits!
