10 Things You Experience When You Watch A New Show

We've all had these feelings.

We've all started a new show that we like and would totally recommend for our friends. Right now, my shows are "Stranger Things" ('80s-style thriller) on Netflix and the old show "Smallville." When we start a new show or re-watch one, so many emotions are involved and it's hard to keep track of them all.

1. Excitement

You turn on the show, ready for it to start, and by the end, you're ready for the next episode. The suspense is killing you because you think, "No, I'm not going to watch the entire first season of this show in one day," and then it's dawn the next morning.

2. Apprehension

Is the show going to be good? Is all of the hype worth it? Your finger is hovering over the enter button, and then you press it with some hesitation. You might have heard from your friends that the show is fantastic, but sometimes your friends are hit or miss.

3. Becoming Invested

The show becomes your life. You live it. You breathe it. You become it. You also binge-watch it on weekends because why not?

4. Anger

Why did this character do this? Why did she have to die? Why did he have to get amnesia and forget the girl he loves? There are so many emotions running through your head right now, but the primary one is anger. How dare the writers for putting this in the show.

5. Heartbreak

Like anger, we have questions. We want answers. We don't want our faves to die, not after they were in the show for so long *cough "Grey's Anatomy" cough.* After one particularly heart-wrenching episode, you could be found curled up in a ball with a tub of ice cream bawling your eyes out.

6. Happiness

They finally figured out who killed him/her! And you knew that it was this one character that looked pretty shady from the beginning. Your best friend was wrong, you were right, and now you get to gloat. Hah.

7. Shock

Did... did that just happen? You weren't ready. Your best friend beside you wasn't ready. Your mom, 50 miles away and watching it on the DVR with you because you didn't get to watch it before, wasn't ready.

8. Defeat

It's over. There's only five minutes left in the episode, absolutely no time for anything new to happen (unless it's "Scandal"). But wait. Who's walking into the building? Your favorite character from season one that you thought had died because they disappeared? It is!

9. Pride

Your favorite season one character has the key to fixing the conflict just in time for the season finale. You're glad that they're back, because that was an open plothole just waiting to be filled and you needed that character back in your life.

10. Satisfaction

You've finished the show. You're good. You can finally rest in peace now that the conflict is solved and the characters are in varying states of happiness. But wait. When's the next season coming out? Next year?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
