10 Things I Want To Thank My Older Sister For

There's no better friend than a sister and there's no better sister than you.

1. Being my role model

I never really realized how big of an impact my sister has had on me until recently. I’m majoring in the field that she did, I dyed my hair dark like hers, the list is extensive. But I couldn’t ask for a better mentor than my older sister.

2. Being my go-to shoulder to cry on

Whether it was a breakup or the death of our grandparents, she was always right beside me. She makes me a stronger person.

3. Always being brutally honest with me

No matter what it was, I could always count on her to not spare my feelings in the best way. She always told me what I needed to hear, even if it wasn’t what I wanted to hear.

4. Not getting too mad when I stole your clothes

However, as your little sister, I feel like it was my duty to raid your closet when you weren’t home. Your clothes were just so much cuter and more mature than mine! No matter how many times I walked out of the house in your shirts and never returned them, you never got too angry, so thank you for that.

5. Giving me some awesome nieces and nephews

If it weren’t for you, I would not be able to call myself an aunt. And I’ve enjoyed every minute of aunt-hood. I’m glad I get to experience it, and I’m glad I get to experience it with your kids.

6. Guiding me through the confusing world of makeup

From “you’re wearing way too much foundation, you look dead” to “that eyeshadow looks awful on you,” my face would be a total wreck if you hadn’t steered me onto the right course.

7. Helping me put together acceptable outfits

Growing up, I always aspired to dress like you when I got to be your age. But when I finally started putting my own outfits together, I’m sure they were nothing short of disastrous. Thank you for not letting me out of the house in anything too awful.

8. Letting me be your shotgun rider

Every time I rode shotgun in your car, I knew it was going to be a good time. And I was usually right; pizza, the mall, swimming. I loved sitting right next to you in your messy vehicle, jamming to Miley Cyrus and rap songs that to this day I still can’t identify.

9. Breaking in our parents

I know that, for a vast majority of the things I did growing up, you probably would’ve gotten killed for while I got merely a slap on the wrist, if that. You took the brunt of the punishments so childhood me thanks you.

10. Being my first ever best friend

Even though you were six years older, you almost always included me even when you had your friends over. From the day I was born, you’ve always been my best friend and to this day that hasn’t changed. I couldn’t write enough articles to express how much I love and appreciate you.

Love Always,

Your baby sister

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
