Ten Things I Want To Do Before I Die

I’ve never really had the desire to go skydiving. Something about free falling out of a plane at 125 miles per hour, praying that the parachute strapped behind your back will not fail you as you willing fall to your potential death never really appealed to me. However, I do want to do, see, and experience things before I die that I consider to be my type of spontaneous and adventurous.

1. Travel to Italy

Again! I know I have already made the voyage to the homeland, but there is so much more I want to see and do. I want to ride a gondola in the city of Venice, take a corky picture with the leaning tower a Pisa, visit the island of Sicily, and climb to the very top of the Saint Peter’s Basilica’s dome over looking all of the Vatican.

2. Take a trip to Disney World

Yes, I have never been to Disney. My childhood was deprived of the journey to the happiest place on Earth. Although I am much older, the inner kid in me is still yearning to experience Cinderella’s castle for the first time, Magic Kingdom, and of course meeting the one and only Mickey Mouse.

3. See the Northern lights

It’s one thing to see them on television or videos on the Internet, but to experience them first hand is something I have always wanted to do since I was little. It’s amazing how the Earth can produce something so beautiful and yet so simple, while making you feel so many different emotions all at once.

4. Visit Hawaii

Who doesn’t want to visit the Aloha State? The little state has so much to offer sitting so far from the rest of the United States. I would love to relax on the beautiful beaches, explore the Hawaiian Volcanoes, and experience the Hawaiian life style. Maybe even ride a Hawaiian roller coaster.

5. Run the Boston Marathon

Currently I struggle running anymore than five miles, but I can dream right? The Boston Marathon is such a historic and monumental event that takes place so close to home. I have a lot of passion and pride for the city of Boston. Being able to participate in something so big, so well known, and so meaningful is truly a life goal. I want to be able to say, “I ran the Boston Marathon.”

6. Touch the Pacific Ocean

I would love to visit the West Coast. I want to see what the other side of the country holds and compare the Cali life to the New England life. Snap a shot in front of the Golden Gate Bridge, see the Hollywood sign, ride a cable car in San Francisco, and visit some of the famous California beaches.

7. See the Grand Canyon

Over 277 miles long, millions of years old, and one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Grand Canyon is a must see. Being able to experience one of the oldest and most wondrous landmarks of the world is definitely a life goal for me. Need I say anymore?

8. Ride a hot air balloon

Hot air balloons; they are in hundreds of movies, imitated at all the amusement parks, and lie somewhere over the rainbow. I’ve always wanted to float across the sky in a massive colorful balloon. I can only imagine the view from high in the sky.

9. Attend a Super Bowl

Growing up with a family that is all about football, it’s no surprise that attending the biggest football game of the year is on this list. It doesn’t matter who’s playing, millions of Americans gather around the television and watch everything that goes with it: the game, the halftime show, the National Anthem, and of course the commercials. The Super Bowl is pretty much a national holiday, but what would it be like to actually be there in person.

10. Explore the Marine Life of Australia

Maybe this was inspired by the Finding Nemo movies, but aside from just wanting to visit Australia I want to scuba dive in the clear Australian waters. I want see the coral and marine life that the Great Barrier Reef is home to. I want to be one with the largest coral reef system in the world. I want to get up close and personal with the many different spices of sea turtles, dolphins and fish. Who knows, I might even find Dory.

11. Find complete happiness.

In all that I do in life I can only hope to find complete happiness in the everyday things. Without that I don’t think I will be able to experience the big things like this that I actually want to do.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
