Welcome to the experiences of a vegetarian!

I have been a vegetarian my whole life. Never ever did I ever like meat. AND YES, I have tried it over and over and over again and I still DON'T like it!

1. Every time you tell someone you're a vegetarian you always have to go into a detailed explanation as to why.

"I am a vegetarian."

"Oh, really? Why? Is it like for animal rights or something?"

Because I AM. I hated meat as a child and now I don't eat it. I am all for animals rights but I also hate the taste of meat!

2. "Wanna go out to dinner?" is a nightmare of a statement.

Trying to find a place to eat and then having to go online and look at their menu just to make sure that there something there for you to eat is so frustrating. Every time I go out with friends I always make sure I can eat something there.

3. Knowing exactly what you're going to order from a restaurant before you even get there.

Just like I said before I always look at the menu beforehand. There is usually an extremely limited vegetarian section if there is one at all, so I usually pick what I am going to have before we even get there.

4. Having to decline a meal made by a loved one because you don't eat meat.

This one kinda sucks. My grandmother doesn't understand the whole "vegetarian" concept so she assumes I still eat meat and always tries to offer to make me something containing meat when I visit. I kindly have to tell her I don't eat meat and then she tries to offer to make me something else... THAT ALSO CONTAINS MEAT! I love her though!

Even if I visit a friends house and their parents cook something I always feel so rude having to tell them I don't eat meat.

5. Having people ask you "Well what do you eat then?" when you tell them you're a vegetarian.

UMMM HELLO like everything else! Pizza, pasta, sandwiches, the list goes on, just without meat.

6. Having people offer you a salad when you say you're a vegetarian.

This is my biggest pet peeve. FUCK YOUR SALAD! I don't want to salad, I didn't ask for a salad, if I wanted one I would've asked for a salad so no don't ask me OK I can eat other things like pasta and pizza and bread, and other things.

I don't want your fucking salad.

6. Having friends want to share an appetizer but you know that won't work because there's going to be meat on it.

I tried to order nachos at a restaurant the other day with no meat on it but then they told us there was beef broth in the cheese sauce.

7. Going to your college's cafeteria or student center and realizing that you paid a couple thousand dollars for a stupid meal plan and don't ever eat there because there's never anything vegetarian!

I wasted a few thousand on a shitty meal plan and the vegetarian food sucked! Thankfully I have an apartment now and can cook whatever I want whenever I want.

8. Having people tell you how bad it is that you don't eat meat and that humans were meant to eat meat.

Blah blah blah, shut up. It's not healthy to do and eat a lot of stuff but people do it anyway. Plus it can be healthier sometimes.

9. Even going on vacation is a struggle.

This actually happened to me. When you go to a nice hotel and they have a breakfast buffet and you make sure the hash browns don't have bacon but the guy tells you everything is cooked in bacon grease, even the waffles...

10. When people ask you if you've tried to eat meat again to see if you like it again.

No, I don't like meat. I know I don't like meat. I have tried it so many times and I still do not like it! I do not like meat and I probably will never ever like meat so shut up!

Sorry to all my vegetarian friends who've had to go through similar things like this! Also sorry to any of my lactose intolerant, gluten allergy, food allergy and vegan friends and to anyone else who restricts their diet one way or another because I am sure you have gone through a similar situation!

On that note FUCK YOUR SALAD! I'm off to eat some cheese pizza!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
