The time for sorority recruitment has come. If you have been around the SU campus lately, a common sight would be a massive crowd of girls, dressed alike, wandering around from house to house in the tradition that is rushing.

Everyone is freaking out about what to wear, how to act and if they will actually get in! To add one more thing to worry about, drinking has apparently been canceled for a while! How will the marathon drinkers survive the weekends?

If you fit into that category, don’t worry: there are other fun things to do besides getting completely wasted. You can keep yourself entertained with this list and have a rocking weekend!

1. Go watch a late-night movie/play.

This is a classic. Who doesn’t love a good movie? You can dress up real nice and wander into the local theatre to watch whatever play is going on right now. Not only is it usually interesting, but you also get to sit and feel fancy because you’re in the Theatre!

2. Visit the arcade.

Nothing screams fun like spending a delightful evening playing games at Dave & Busters. Whatever arcade is nearby, it’s always fun to wander around and try out all the games you haven’t played in a while. Plus, the food is usually awesome, so you can have fun and food!

3. Take a tour of your city night life.

Sometimes, it’s nice to take a step a back from the party and just watch people. Notice their interactions. Check on friends. Most likely, you spend your weekends circling the same old spots but this time change! Try out a new place. Look at all the options out there. Just explore, feel free and find something you never expected.

4. Have a nice home spa treatment with your friends.

Ah, it’s always lovely to find pleasure in treating yourself to a nice pampering session. Put on some chill music and whip the masks, lotions, and toners out! Have a nice evening with your girls or alone and just relax.

5. Binge an entire season of a series of your choice.

Ready, set, NETFLIX! Grab a bag of popcorn, lay in bed and let the world of bingeing take over.

6. Go shopping.

Nothing screams more fun than some retail therapy! Wander over to the mall, try on thousands of outfits, buy the ones you absolutely cannot live without and enjoy yourself!

7. Go out to a fancy restaurant with friends.

Dinner can be so much more than a sad trudge to the dining hall. Pick out a restaurant you haven’t been to and go there for dinner. Grab a few friends and make a big deal out of it.

8. Have a karaoke session with pals.

One of my personal favorites! Nothing beats staring at the lyrics of your favorite songs on a screen and screaming them at the top of your lungs with friends all around. You don’t even need to spend cash, YouTube will be good enough!

9. Go on a weekend road trip.

That town over that you haven’t visited before? Play tourist for the weekend and head over there to see what it has to offer. You never know, you might actually love that tiny town! Life is too short to spend it in only one place!

10. Go hiking in the mountains.

Have some one-on-one time with nature and go off into the wild. Of course, if you’re anything like me, then you are content to watch videos of other people hiking but that’s still fine. It’s the thought that counts.

All in all, it’s always nice to do something besides the staples like sleep and homework/studying. Keeps these in mind when you’re bored out of your mind and want to find something to do!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
