10 Things That Make You Way More Excited As A College Student Than They Ever Did Before

There are definitely some small moments in life that never really meant much to you until you went to college. Back at home, in your childhood and throughout high school, there were simple things that you might never have cared or thought about. But to college students, these are the moments that suddenly mean so much more.

1. Passing friends on the way to class

Wait, is that who I think it is...."Oh my god, HEY! It's been forever! I miss you so much! How are you? Oh, you have to go to class right now? Well, this was amazing while it lasted!"

*walks away* Best 30 seconds of my day...

2. Finding time for a nap

While I'm not one for naps, I know most students are. And finding that little spare moment between class, homework, work and more class is amazing no matter what you do with it. Finding that time is so much more satisfying than a nap ever has been before.

3. Getting free stuff

Coupons for free food? Yes. Going to student group events just for the snacks or pizza? No shame in that. Guy handing out mini bibles? Yeah...that's where I draw the line.

4. Seeing a dog

*Walking with friends* "Everyone freeze. There is a dog right there." *Clings onto stranger's dog and refuses to be separated*

You never realized how much you took dogs for granted back in your hometown when you saw them all the time and probably had one of your own at home. Now, seeing any dog is an incredible moment for you. It makes you a thousand times happier, and also so sad because you miss your puppy at home and your apartment doesn't allow pets.

5. Finding a new favorite show on Netflix

Well, I definitely don't want to do homework right now....what are my other options...?

*Six hours into binge-watching new favorite show* This is so much better than studying.

6. Turning on the TV exactly when your show starts

"WAIT, what time is it?" *Screaming* "Guys, [insert show of choice] is coming on!!"

*Sprints to the couch faster than ever before and weeps with relief when the TV is already set to the right channel*

Simple joys you never had to experience back when you relied on your parents' DVR.

7. Getting mail

Never before has seeing a piece of mail filled you with so much joy. A letter from your grandma, a magazine, or even junk mail can make you happy for a few minutes on a bad day. And you know that if you're lucky enough to get a care package, the rest of the week can only go down from there. Pure happiness.

8. Having clean sheets

It takes forever to actually happen, but after the blood, sweat and tears of putting the sheets back on the bed, it's such a perfect moment to roll around on those sweet-smelling soft sheets. You never appreciated it back when your mom did this for you.

9. Having class canceled

*Wakes up and sees email from professor saying class is canceled* "This is the best thing that could possibly happen...I'll have so much more time for procrastinating."

Back in high school, classes were never really canceled. You had maybe one or two snow days a year, but never realized how much you'd treasure the moments in college when a canceled class meant one extra hour of sleep.

10. Seeing more money than you expected in your bank account

"WHAT?! I have that much?? Well, I guess it's never too soon to buy a house...or an exotic pet!"

*Rolls around in $30 worth of singles and then blows it all on snacks*

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
