- You are sleeping alone for the first time. Now every little noise is terrifying and you aren't saying goodnight to the person five feet away from you. If the demon gets you from under your bed or in your closet you’re roommate won’t be able to save you (or get possessed with you).
2. There isn't someone there to talk to almost 90% of the time. No matter where you are in college you'll usually find someone to talk to in person. You can only force your mom or brother to listen so much. Now you have to text or call people to say hi instead of just walking down the hall.
3.You get confused on what to call home now. When you were in college you would talk about going home, but now that you’re back “home” you can’t seem to stop referencing your college as your home. You’re confusing not only yourself now but everyone else when you tell stories and they can’t figure out where it took place.
4. Your old friends back home will still be your friends, but you’ll be different. Those friends you missed terribly are finally with you, but it’s almost strange to be with them again for the first time. Can you talk about your friends in college or is that not allowed? You’ll text your roommates and see what they are doing in this situation.
5. The home cooked food is amazing. It doesn’t even matter if your mom isn’t that spectacular of a cook; you missed her recipes when you were eating the same cafeteria food every day. That meal you dreaded every week is now one of your favorites, since it will always beat the cafeteria food. Maybe you can take your mom back with you and she can take over as the chef at college.
6.Your bed is single handedly the best thing that has ever happened to you in your entire life. Why did you ever trade your huge, soft bed for the tiny, hard bed in college you have to sleep in? Can you bring your bed back to college? You worry you’re gonna fall out of your little bed and hit the ground every night in your dorm but you’re bed at home is still perfect for sprawling out.
7. You have to tell your parents where you are now. You have to tell her where you are going and who you are with, but that whole semester you were gone they had absolutely no idea where you were at any point. Your curfew may even be back in place from high school, and getting home on time now has become an even bigger problem than it was in the past.
8. Gas is so expensive. You can’t walk to everything you need now. You have to drive to see people, get food, or go places. You got away with not paying for gas in your car every week and had that cash for pocket money, but now you are shelling out the green like your life depends on it.
9. Having freedom to go places you want. You drive through your neighborhood just because you can and you know exactly where everything is. You swing by your old hangout places and take all your known shortcuts, stopping at your favorite places and screaming out the lyrics to the song playing on the radio.
10. You realize your family will always be your #1 fans. Even though you called your mom to talk every week about the stress of college and your siblings have a whole new way of running things, you missed them miserably. You forgot what it was like to be away from them and you fall right back into your old habits and patterns. Now you don’t even get upset about family night; you look forward to it.
