Going away to college is an amazing experience. You are thrown into an entirely new community with people you have never met before in an entirely new environment. Whether you are only two hours or twelve hours away from home it can be a huge adjustment. Home sickness is inevitable; you’re bound to miss one of these ten things or all of them at any point in time.
1. Home cooked meals
When you’re sitting in the dining hall and their chicken parm is no where near as amazing as your mom’s. Nothing is better then the care packages you get with some home cooked goodies or when mom sends food back with you over break.
2. Your favorite food places
Whether its pizza, bagels, or Chipotle (because your school is 45 minutes away from the closest one). These are your go to places when you need a quick bite to eat but are craving something more than just fast food.
3.Your room at home
is your safe place where you relax and unwind, at school its where you eat, sleep, do work, and everything in between. Not to mention you have to share it with someone else.
4. Your kitchen
Think about it at school you have to walk to a completely different building to get your meals, while at home you’re just a few steps away from that meal you want, and its free!
5. Your local deli
whether they know your order every time you walk in the door or you’re just craving their iced coffee or what is in your opinion the best bacon egg and cheese in the world. It’s perfect for a morning after a night out or just a good pick me up.
6. Your living room
I never thought I would miss something as simple as watching a movie on my couch or binging Netflix. Sometimes you miss the small things the most.
7. Your pets
They sleep with you at night, they are always there when you want to talk, and they always know how to make you smile. And if you're lucky enough to have your pet at school let everyone else have a turning playing with it!
8. Your home friends
You love your friends at school, but your friends from home were the ones with you through those awkward middle school days, your first breakup, and they understand you in a way no one else can.
9. Your siblings
Lets face it as much as you hate them they are your best friends and understand you the most. They cover for you with mom and dad, they always have the best advice, and they have to love you no matter what.
10.Your parents
Whether you want to admit it or not you miss them. Sometimes uou need someone to take care of you while your sick, a really good hug, and just having having them in the next room makes all the difference.
