1. You’re always talking about it:
Let’s face it. unless it’s your family or significant other, people won’t remember your birthday in the middle of summer. So you talk about it a lot just to make sure your friends get the message.
2. It’s the only thing getting you through finals week:
On top of finishing school for the year and not having to do anything for three months, the presents waiting for you after you finish are the cherry on top.
3. Half of your friends are either on vacation or back home: Meeting people from all different places is a part of college and it’s awesome, that is until you realize everyone will go home for the summer, leaving you to celebrate your birthday all alone. Sure, some of your old high school friends might be around, but even most of them have made travel plans. You can't really blame people for choosing Cabo over you.
4. Your friends probably don't have access to WiFi:
Which means no social media. Which means you probably won't be getting any Facebook birthday wishes, either.
5. It’s too hot to do anything:
I live in Texas, which means if you’re not indoors from 11 a.m to 7 p.m. each day, you’ll probably end up wanting to die. So, do the reasonable thing and throw a pool party for the millionth time. It’s basically expected at this point.
6. NO SCHOOL:
It doesn't matter if you're 8 or 18, having a summer birthday is kinda awesome because you don't have to wait for a weekend to celebrate it.
7. There's enough distance from the holidays:
I've always felt bad for people born in December. Summer birthdays don't get worn down by holiday fatigue. We're 6 or so months away from the holiday season, which is perfect. When it comes time for that season, it's been 6 months and nobody is birthday fatigued.
8.You’re been the youngest in your grade:
- Most the people in your grade are older than you. Being the baby has its benefits, though. Because you're younger, people will take you under their wing.
9. Which means you’ll be the last of your friends to be able to drink
Prepare to be DD for years. With most of your friends being older than you, a number of times you'll end up being simultaneously the baby and the parent of the group. As much as it sucks, know that your day will come. Eventually.
10. You can do whatever you want
It's your birthday, which means it's all about you. Do whatever makes you happy. Eat all the cake! Wear a tiara! Throw a tantrum! It’s summer. No one can judge anyone during summer.
