1. Get involved more.

Get out, sports, clubs, productions! Extra-curriculars look so great on college apps and they are just super fun and a great way to get to know people!

2. Take the class.

Not sure if you'll like it? None of your friends are taking it? Take the classes you find interesting, no matter what your friends are doing. In the end, you need to enjoy your high school experience so make it worth it for you!

3. Don't expect the upperclassmen to hate you, but don't expect them to like you.

The best thing you can do is just be you, some will take the shot to get to know you and others won't don't take it personally.

4. Ask for help.

Whether in class, on an assignment, or finding the next room, always ask for help. Teachers are there for a reason! Don't be afraid to ask them, or an upperclassman for help.

5. Take advantage of the teachers "Office Hours."

Right before school and after school most teachers are in their rooms. Don't be afraid to ask to come in for some extra help on an assignment or some extra study help before a quiz.

6. Study together.

Study alone. STUDY! Some people don't need it but it's worth it to try, find what works best. Study groups are a great way to help each other out.

7. You will gain/lose friends.

It's highly unlikely you keep all of the same friends all four years of high school. Don't be afraid to ask someone new to your lunch table, or to hang out after school. Also, if someone isn't someone you want to be around don't be afraid to find new friends.

8. Don't worry about fitting in.

Everyone has a place in high school, you just have to find yours. Don't change you for someone else. Be YOUnique.

9. Fly solo.

Homecoming, Winter Formal, or Prom, it doesn't matter. No date? No problem. Don't get caught up on scoring a date to a dance, they're way more fun with your friends anyway.

10. MAKE IT COUNT.

Don't go all four years without ever having fun, getting in a little trouble, or being involved! Make your four years some of the best years of your life! No one else can do it for you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
