Fall is my favorite season, and every year I get so excited for it to start. This year, however, I don't think I could be more excited for it because summer went by so slowly for me this year. Here are ten things I get most excited about for fall that make it my favorite season.

1. Decorating my living space with fall and Halloween themed decor

Every year I enjoy decorating my living space with fall and Halloween themed décor. It puts me in the spirit, and I'll often add more decorations each year.

2. Baking

Whether it be cobbler, pie, or some type of bread, there are so many recipes online that I like to make for fall. They are fun to make and taste so good!

3. Wearing fall outfits

When the weather gets cooler, it is perfect layering weather and I love to whip out sweaters, flannels, and all clothes fall colored like plaid, red, green, and orange.

4. Watching horror movies

Normally streaming services will add to their collection of horror movies for the month of October, and I like to use this opportunity to catch up on movies and become more in the Halloween spirit.

5. Going pumpkin picking

Visiting the pumpkin patch and picking out a pumpkin is probably my favorite thing about fall. I just love going to large patches that have corn mazes and other fall products and spend time there with friends picking out pumpkins, and taking pictures.

6. Drinking fall flavors

Apple cider, hot chocolate, cinnamon spice, and pumpkin spice are just some of the flavors that I love that come out during the fall. They taste so good and it feels special to drink them as restaurants normally only serve them during this season.

7. Putting together an iconic Halloween costume

Whether it's for a Halloween party or just to wear at home, I love thinking of something or someone I want to be and then coming up with a plan on how to put together the perfect costume.

8. Carving pumpkins

There are so many potential designs to carve, and I love designing one and carving it into a pumpkin. Plus, they look so cool lit up with a candle in them!

9. Listening to Halloween tunes

Though I love listening to what is popular on the radio, it can get a bit repetitive, and listening to Halloween music I find is the perfect way to get some variety as well get more into the Halloween spirit.

I love this fall holiday because it allows you to get together with your family and friends, eat, and show thankfulness.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
