With finals right around the corner, things are guaranteed to be a little bit hectic in the lives of college students right about now. The good news? Once we get past those stressful weeks of studying and taking those grueling exams, summer, sunshine, and a whole lot of relaxation awaits us! Here's a list of the must-do summer activities for college students this summer!

1. Go to a concert.

Whatever your music taste may include, there are always more concerts in town during the summer months. Try to head to an outdoor venue—it changes the vibe of the entire show and is a sure sign of summertime.

2. Attend a baseball game.

Nothing says summer like the sweltering weather of a major league baseball game in the afternoon. If you've done the (somewhat pricey) stadium scene too many times before, check out your local minor league teams! Before you decide on which game to go to, check to see if your team has any fun giveaways or themed nights!

P.S. There's no food quite like ballpark food. Make sure to check out the special menus featured in stadiums, but you can't go wrong with a hotdog and a refreshing beverage of your choice.

3. Read a book.

This one might sound lame, but think about it: When is the last time you actually read a book? Reading is therapeutic to many people, especially if it isn't out of a textbook and being forced down your throat. Soak up some rays by taking your book outside and relaxing in the warm weather.

4. Go to the beach.

The beach (well, depending which beach) is arguably one of the most relaxing places in the world. There's nothing I enjoy more in summer than sinking my toes into the sand and taking a nap in the sunshine. (Or reading a book!) If the beach isn't your thing, visit the mountains or a park. Getting in touch with nature is essential to do when most of your time has been spent in a classroom or on a bustling campus.

5. Do a "food tour" of your hometown.

This one might just be my favorite on the list, because there are so many interpretations of it. Is your hometown known for its cheesesteaks? Visit all of the cheesesteak joints and rank them to find the best one. Tour some ice cream shops or pizza places. It's the perfect excuse to become cultured and indulge in some good eats.

6. Take a road trip.

One of my favorite things to do during the summertime is drive down the highway with the windows down and blast my favorite playlist on the speakers. Have friends join you and visit the beach, a park, or someplace new!

7. Hang out with old friends.

Now that everyone's schedule is less chaotic and all of your friends are back from school, there's no excuse not to meet up with your friends from high school and grab lunch. (Or do any of the activities on this list!)

8. Travel for a weekend.

Although traveling can be expensive, it doesn't have to be. Check Megabus tickets or train tickets daily for special deals, or drive if you can to save money. Instead of splurging on a hotel, use Airbnb as a more affordable option. (It also makes for a more authentic and immersive place to stay!)

9. Volunteer.

With jam-packed schedules during the school year, it's hard to find opportunities to do some volunteer work, which is why being at home during the summer is the perfect time to do so! Whether it is through your church, a local school, or an animal shelter, there are always organizations seeking volunteers. There's nothing quite as rewarding than giving back to those in need or assisting a cause you're passionate about.

10. Pick up a new hobby.

Try doing something you've never done before. Learn how to speak another language, take art classes, pick up an instrument, or learn how to play a sport.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
