As finals are in full swing, everyone is counting down the days until they are free for Christmas Vacation. 3 weeks of no school an, for the especially blessed, no work, is absolutely blissful, but we all know that there comes a time with that much vacation that you start to feel bored. We're used to running around every day from one class to another that when you have 3 weeks of no schedule besides work, friends/family, and your own downtime, you're going to have times that you don't know what to do with yourself.

Here are some of the things I plan to do this Christmas break to get important things done and have extra fun and creative (or super chill) downtime.

1. Re-arrange your Dorm Room!:

This is technically something to accomplish before you go home for break, or right when you get back from the break, but this is the perfect time to re-imagine your living space. You already have to do some cleaning and re-organizing to go home anyway!

2. SLEEP ALL THE DAYS:

At least the first 3 days of the break will be dedicated to catching up on all the sleep lost during finals.

3. NETFLIX:

I plan on watching all the shows people have been going nuts over that I haven't had time to watch (Riverdale, Stranger Things, 13 Reasons Why) because of all the craziness that comes with the end of a semester. (also cause' I'm too busy re-watching The Office...).

4. Make somethin' crafty:

I wanna knit a blanket, or a scarf if I lose patience. This is very likely to happen, by the way.

5. Read!:

Re-read an old favorite, start a new series you've never heard of, or pick up a book recommended by a friend. This is a great way to chill yet keep your brain active for when the next semester begins. (Accept it, second semester WILL come).

6. Get your books for next Semester:

If you haven't already, NOW is definitely the time.

7. Start Applying for Scholarships:

I know, this is not what anyone wants to be doing over Christmas vacation, but you will thank yourself later when you're busy all over again and you don't have the time or the energy to fill them out.

8. Spend Time with your Friends!:

I don't know about you, but during this break, I'm most excited to see friends from home.

9. FAMILY:

This is a given, but Christmas of all times of the year is THEE time to be with your family. Even if it means trekking across a blustery wilderness to find the perfect tree.

10. Christmas-y Things:

You heard the Elf, do all this and more! Watch movies, bake cookies, watch Christmas chaos ensue at the mall; all the fun things Christmas has to offer! :)

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
