10 Things To Do Before Going Back To School
Brinkley Walser Stoner

It's finally August, and school is coming faster than we know it. After spending a lazy summer, we don't always get to do everything we want to before it ends. So, here are 8 awesome, cheap, and fun things to do before you go back to school!

1. Have a get together with your friends!

It's always fun to be with your friends, or even watching Friends on Netflix with friends. You can go out for a movie, laser tag, dinner, or whatever you want! Don't forget to capture your memories with a group photo!

2. Go for a pool day...

Summer can be very hot, so why not cool down before school begins? Either go somewhere in town, or go swimming in your backyard. You can pack a delicious lunch to go with your day and bring your friends to tag along!

3. And get super tanned!

Being pale and fair is good too, but who doesn't want to be tan for the next school year? If you have any farmer tan lines, then now is the best time to get rid of them! Don't forget sunscreen!

4. Get something sweet!

Go out and get your final ice cream cone, frozen yogurt, or anything you desire! As long as it is sweet and you're not watching your weight, then all is good! Right?

5. If you've been working all summer, then you may want to get a massage.

Ahh...a massage. A great way to relax and to become a new person for the school year. Get those knots out before more come your way!

6. You may want to start getting school supplies.

I know, you probably don't want to think about it yet, but school is coming close! Make sure you know what you need with all your favorite color(s) and designs before they all run out!

7. Then maybe a new wardrobe!

Who doesn't love shopping? I know I do! Why not go back to school with your sweet tan and new awesome clothes? Maybe your style has changed since last year...you never know till you go!

8. Get people together and have a bonfire.

Bonfires are the best gatherings throughout the summer, so why not plan one yourself? Get people you know together and celebrate with food, games, and s'mores!

9. A marathon movie night!

When school comes, you probably won't be staying up as much, right? So find your favorite movies or series and enjoy a night of entertainment for free! You don't have your favorite movies, then I suggest your local library, Netflix, or if your cable, movies on demand.

10. Don't forget to have a family night though.

For students who are going to back to college far away, I especially suggest for you to have a family night. Play games, make a meal together or go out for dinner, or do any activities you love doing as a family. You'll definitely miss them, so be with them as much as you can!

Enjoy the rest of your summer and good luck for the next school year!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
