We all know that having irrational crushes on animated characters is truly a thing, and is completely viable simply due to the fact that the writers of these films are paid to make us feel a certain way towards the swoon-worthy male leads. Here's a compiled list of my favorites, in no particular order.
1. Flynn Rider
Yes, the smolder is nice, but look at that face! His love for Rapunzel, calling her his new dream, sacrificing himself to protect her will make anyone melt.
2. Kristoff
Kristoff is the epitome of the "nice-guy" stereotype. He reluctantly follows Anna through the wintery forests of the north, and despite his feelings for her, and being fully capable of stealing her away with those rugged blond locks, respects her betrothment to Hans. Nice guys don't always finish last!
3. Aladdin
A classic Disney crush, Aladdin is smooth from the beginning, asking Jasmine if she trusts him with those eyes. Along with his devilish good looks, wishing changes upon himself in hopes of winning her affection is sufficient to call him swoon-worthy.
4. Naveen
A suave ladies man, Naveen has every girl after him, but after being humbled with a cut- off from his parents (and being turned into a frog), he is brought down to earth. Just enough to cross and join paths with Tiana. His proposal to her, expecting to stay frogs is enough alone to make you sigh.
5. Tarzan
Despite being raised by apes, Tarzan is the embodiment of a man. His wild looks, curiosity toward anything dealing with the human world, and passionate nature will have you wishing you were Jane in an instant.
6. Eric
Do we admire his ability to fall in love with Ariel's voice alone, or the way he looks at his dog? Can't really tell.
7. Adam/The Beast
1
Those eyes...those eyes! If his selfless freeing of Belle isn't enough to set you over the edge, it's the eyes. Although admit it, we all secretly wished he would've stayed The Beast.
8. Li Shang
He starts off as a bit of an authoritative jerk, pushing his soldiers to the limits, and being especially hard on Ping, Mulan's male alter-ego. But after seeing Mulan step into the incredible warrior that she is, he softens up and falls for her. He's not intimidated by her success or threatened by her abilities, and instead, sees a partnership. *swoon*
9. Jim Hawkins
The star of perhaps one of the most underrated Disney movies of all time, Jim Hawkins is the brooding, misunderstood young man who needs no approval besides that of his mothers. Momma's boys can go either way, but I can assure you this one could be cuffable, you know, if he were in this reality.
10. Hercules
A god who doesn't know his own strength, but who uses it as best as he can to save his people and rescue the mortal he loves definitely deserves a spot on this list. Him giving up his immortality to be with Meg solidifies that suggestion.
But wait! There's more! Since you took the time to read the entirety of this piece, here are two more male leads not from a Disney movie, but who still have all the good looks.
11. Dmitri
He's a con artist who is looking for a quick buck at the beginning but then ends up falling for Anastasia, the lost princess. He helps her find her family and doesn't ask for anything in return in the end. Don't forget to take a look at that jaw line.
12. Moses
This movie deserves so much more credit than its given. But Moses is a prince who doesn't know he actually doesn't have any royal blood until he encounters his true siblings who are living in poverty. He's a spiritual man who leads his people to freedom and looks good with and without that wig.
Don't feel shameful of your crushes on these dudes. Sure, they're in some other reality and will literally never be within reach of you, but you can dream. And set unrealistic standards for men you meet in real life.
