When I'm in the mood to create something, such as a painting or a drawing, I love to listen to songs that are more than the daily hits that I've already heard a bunch of times. Over time, I've found tons of chill, relaxing tunes that I love to listen to while I'm working on something creative. Currently, they reside in a playlist which is about 300 songs full, so instead, I thought I'd just name a few of my favorites.

1. Can't Get Enough - Basenji

You might recognize this song from the opening scene of "Nerve" (that extremely anxiety-provoking digital drama). I love this song because it's super easy to listen to, with a steady beat and simple lyrics that don't distract you. It's also rather upbeat which creates a good vibe.

2. Hotel California - The Eagles

This song is obviously a classic, but it drifts through so many different tempos to keep your mind provoked throughout the entire 7 minute track.

3. Bellbottoms - The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion

This song might also sound familiar if you've seen "Baby Driver", as it appears in the exhilarating opening scene. This song is super exciting and reminds me entirely of a cinematic experience, as I can almost place myself in a movie scene with its intense tempo and riffs.

4. Electric Love - BORNS

This is another really feel-good song. It's super upbeat and almost has a dreamy vibe to it. I love blasting this song when I'm super into a project.

5. Young Folks - Peter Bjorn and John

This song is like a super fast-tempo elevator tune, and for some reason it really works. The recording has an almost telephone-esque quality to it that I really appreciate.

6. Someone Like You - Adele

This song is mega popular, I doubt you've come this far without hearing it at least once. But, really, this is a great song to blast when you're really in your feelings with a project. It's also completely necessary to sing this at the top of your lungs, just saying.

7. Capsize - FRENSHIP, Emily Warren

This is much more of a techno song than the previously mentioned songs. I'm not usually one for electronic, techno music, however this one has really strong vocals and a super catchy beat that I love.

8. Dear God - XTC

Ok, yes, this song was in the movie "IT", so be aware of the clown flashbacks you might get upon pressing play on this one. Anyway, I love the lyrics in this song and the simple yet cryptic tune that accompanies them.

9. For Elise - Saint Motel

I need to recommend that you go through this song once just to appreciate the clever, witty lyrics before adding it to your playlist right away. This song is both fast and slow paced, in just the right places. I just recently discovered this group upon a friend's recommendation, and I love every bit of their "saitmotelevision" album.

10. Cocoa Butter Kisses - The Stairwells

This is originally a Chance the Rapper track, however The Stairwells covered it in their unique a capella style. Honestly I didn't even realize it was a capella the first few times I listened to this cover. The lead's vocals are really smooth and accompany the song really successfully. I really love singing along to this one, even when I have paint covering my hands and every piece of clothing I own.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
