10 Songs To Listen To When You Don't Want To Listen to Anyone Else

In This Article:

Sorry, can't hear you, I have my headphones on.

1. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

"Easy come, easy go, will you let me go, BISMILLAH". If anything, this line will get your complete attention. Queen's varying tunes and ability to be extremely experimental shows in this song, a 7-minute long breakthrough.

2. Strawberries and Cigarettes - Troye Sivan

As usual, the beauty king Troye Sivan makes not listening to his songs a hard task for us. In this song, Strawberries and Cigarettes, he makes us feel like we need to sneak out of the house to be with the one and do rebellious things with them in order to have lived the real life. And we regret not doing it the Troye Sivan way. You should.

3. Crying Over You - HONNE ft. BEKA

"And I don't know, why I've been crying over you, for the life of me, I wish I knew". We all feel this at one point, if not more, in our lives. With his beautiful background music, extremely relatable lyrics, and Beka's soothing voice, this song keeps me at a trance even if I'm standing amidst my friends talking about my favorite food. Which is saying a lot.

4. Broken - Lovelytheband

Lovelytheband's song, Broken, talks about how foolish it may seem that you could like someone for being as broken as you. With its unique tunes and the lyrics that tell you a whole different story about that one significant other who would do anything to not lose you, you can ignore everyone else and go into your fantasy world. Or at least try to.

5. Dusk Till Dawn - Zayn ft. Sia

Zayn, as usual, calms our nerves with his beautiful face. Oh wait! We were talking about his music. My bad. Dusk Till Dawn, his best song yet, can never get tiring, Even after more than a year of its release, it plays on our earbuds constantly. And not to forget Sia's different voice never fails to amaze us, and listening to this song only ever makes us think about what exactly Zayn and Sia were trying to convey through the music video, which is a perfect distraction!

6. You're Somebody Else - flora cash

This song doesn't make it to everyone's playlists, but if it did, what a bomb playlist it would be. "I saw the part of you that only when you're older you will see too", this line leaves me wondering if the song was written by a lover or a parent. Nevertheless, the passion in the lyrics and soft and soothing background tunes help us focus on how beautiful indie music can be.

7. Wait - M83

Ah, Augustus Waters. And Hazel Grace Lancaster. Maybe. This song was on the official soundtrack of The Fault In Our Stars, and every time I listen to it, I'm reminded of how beautiful the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam was with Hazel and Gus having their first kiss. Jealousy sets in and you know that's a good way to not focus on things around you.

8. The Scientist - Coldplay

Coldplay's amazing work at play again, this song could never be the song one gets tired of after listening to it a mere fifty times. Fifty, you read that right. No song of Coldplay's could ever make that list, but The Scientist holds a special place for that forever. The keyboard and the guitar tunes in the background make you feel like you're a part of their world like you were there when this masterpiece was being created. "Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry, you don't know how lovely you are". Oh, stop it, Chris. Not.

9. thank you, next - Ariana Grande

There's no explanation needed for this song, so you're probably saying "I know this song is beautiful, so thank you, next".

10. I Want It That Way - Backstreet Boys

Doesn't matter that the Backstreet Boys are now Backstreet Men, their songs will always be our first true love. They make us WANT to be in love, while the previous song makes us want to be single. You are, my fire. This one line is enough for the song to be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Good luck getting it out!

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
