There are a lot of songs that mean something to me. But these are the songs that mean the most to me. Each of these songs has helped me get through a certain period in my life. These range from heavy metal to alternative music.
1. "Damage" by Fit for Rivals.
To me, "Damage" was about the lead singer Renee Phoenix reaching out to get help for her depression and it showed people they can reach out for help too.
2. "You Only Live Once" by Suicide Silence
"You Only Live Once" means going out and doing stuff because you will not get a second chance to do so. Which is the truth. There is no promise for a tomorrow.
3. "Savior" by Black Veil Brides
"Savior" helped me realize that I can get help for my depression. I cry a lot of times when I hear this song and I’m alone. I sing to it and tear up. It says that when you need it a savior will be there.
4. "Get Well" by Icon for Hire
"Get Well" is also about reaching out to get help. But it also talks about how society makes hurting yourself and having a mental disorder as a beautiful and romantic thing.
5. "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance
"Welcome to the Black Parade" helped me out when my grandparents passed away. This song is about death and having someone in the afterlife watching over you. It helps you realize that a lost loved one is still with you even if they are not physically still with us.
6. "Morning Star by Blood" on the Dance Floor
"Morning Star" is about letting someone go. This song really touched me because they talk about their own experiences. And, in the end, you hear Dahvie Vanity having a hard time finishing the song because of how hard losing this one particular person was.
7. "Remember Every Scar" by Escape the Fate
Remember Every Scar is about remembering what makes you beautiful. We all have scars whether they are physical, emotional, or mental. All these scars and imperfections make us beautiful.
8. "Disposable Teens" by Marilyn Manson
"Disposable Teens" was written after the Columbine shooting. Marilyn Manson was blamed for that shooting. This song means a lot to me about overcoming obstacles that have been stacked against you.
9. "Better Off Dead" by Sleeping with Sirens
"Better Off Dead" is about how many people feel about their own lives. Many people believe that the world would be better off if they were dead. I used to feel the same way. There are times that I still feel the same way.
10. "Battle Cry" by Blood on the Dance Floor
"Battle Cry" is about fighting for your life. Battle cry was written when one of the artists of the band Blood on the Dance Floor found out he had type two diabetes. To me, this song is a testament to how hard you have to fight for everything. We take things for granted and when we find out something that is possibly life threatening that’s when we start fighting. We need to start fighting way before that time comes.
